Quick user switch in Windows 10

If we have a shared computer at home, used by several people, it would be a great thing to create a user account for Windows for each one and not, as usual, to use the same account for all.
Through the accounts of the Windows PC it becomes possible to separate the various activities, install programs that become visible only for one user and not the others, have the icons chosen on the desktop, keep a folder of documents and images distinct from that of the others and also, in Windows 10, customize settings in a unique and different way.
In addition, Windows user accounts also add a level of privacy to the PC, so that others cannot spy on our activities and the sites visited.
Even for those who use the PC alone, creating user accounts is useful, for example, to separate the use of the computer from work and from the game or to create a guest access to use when someone comes home.
Entering on the PC with another user than the current one is really simple in Windows 10 where there is a quick user change function that simplifies the transition between accounts even without having to close the apps and without logging out.

The most common way to switch to another user is to use the Start menu.
You can then press the Windows key on the bottom left, then press the user icon on the left side and select another account.
At that point the login screen will appear and you will have to use your password.
To return to the previously used account, the same procedure can be used.
Another way to change users quickly is the keyboard shortcut that closes everything, that is, the Alt + F4 keys.
Windows experts know that this keyboard shortcut can be used to shutdown the PC by pressing those keys together multiple times.
Alt + F4 closes programs and opens shutdown and user switch options.
To make a quick user change without interrupting the work and without closing anything of the current account is to use the Windows + L keys, which is the historical shortcut to lock the computer.
When you lock your PC in this way, the open programs and files are not closed and the lock screen for Windows access appears which can be used to switch to another PC account.
Keep in mind that by changing users without logging out, all processes, files and programs opened by the previous user will remain in memory, consuming many computer resources that will remain unavailable for the user who has just entered.
For an even faster user change on the PC, you can press the Ctrl + Alt + Del keys together and then press on the word Change User .
The Fast User Switching feature works for users who are signed in with a Microsoft account or a local account.
