Delete data from stolen or lost mobile phone (Android)

The biggest problem if you lose your cell phone is not so much related to the money it is worth, although in some cases it may be a lot, but to the data that is inside, which you would never want to end up at the disposal of a stranger or, worse, of a thief.
Depending on the applications used, a modern smartphone contains more personal data than any computer such as, for example: the address book, SMS messages and Whatsapp messages, Facebook login data, Google login information, full availability of the email, bank details, calendar notes, home addresses, personal photos, the history of the places we went to (from Google Maps).
Practically those who steal our smartphone can access all this data without problems, especially if those who find it or steal it are a bit of an IT expert and know how to remove any protections such as a screen lock or PIN.
Luckily for all Android phones there is a rescue system that can help us find the phone or, more quickly, to delete everything that contains memory .
For the first point we have seen, in another article, all the ways to track an Android phone, iPhone or Windows .
The second solution, the more drastic one that eliminates all data in the memory remotely even if we can no longer use the phone, is already included in Android, if the device management function has been activated.
We talked about this in another article, with the guide on "managing Android devices" .
If this function has been activated (and it is better to check immediately that it is), in case the phone has been lost or stolen, you can try both to locate the position of the smartphone and to remotely delete its memory.
To do this, you can use your computer by going to www.google.com/android/devicemanager or using another Android device using this application.
Access the site or app using the same Google login that was registered on the lost Android smartphone and when it is recognized, press the Cancel button.
This will cause a command to be sent to the smartphone to perform a complete factory reset and eliminate any data inside it .
The command will be received as soon as the smartphone connects to the internet, hoping that it will still have a battery charge if it has been lost and that whoever stole it will connect it to the internet at least once, before deleting our Google account.
A more effective solution, but to be prepared before the phone is lost or stolen is the one offered by AndroidLost, already explained in the article on the anti-theft apps for Android.
The application remains hidden on the phone in the form of an unexpected icon like the notepad.
Once configured, it allows you to receive remote commands via SMS or to control the phone remotely if it is connected to the internet (you can browse the files remotely also to recover important photos by transferring them to the PC).
Through an SMS it is possible to request the deletion of the mobile phone memory, so that those who find it or steal it cannot spy on our private facts.
Obviously, in case of loss of the mobile phone, if this is irrecoverable, it is better to immediately change each password to access the applications used and log out of all the accounts set on the phone.
