Avoid the end of support message in Windows 7 and XP

As of March 8, 2014, an update for Windows XP released by Microsoft warns users that support for Windows XP has ended. We have already seen what the end of support for Windows XP users means.
From 14 January 2020, the same thing also happens to those who use Windows 7 and for this reason we have seen what the end of support for Windows 7 means.
In essence, from the moment when Microsoft will abandon the development and assistance of a Windows version, users will no longer receive updates on their computers and, therefore, any new security hole that will be discovered will not be capped with a patch as it is. happened for years and as it still happens for the most recent versions of Windows. This does not mean, however, that you can still use Windows 7 on your computer (of course now using XP would be very dangerous and obsolete), at least for some time, protecting it with a good antivirus.
Disable Windows 7 end of support notification
To disable the message that warns about the end of Windows 7 support, before closing it, you must select the option " Don't remind me again ".
Alternatively, you need to open the registry editor. Press the Windows-R keys together to open the Run box. write regedit to start the registry editor. If a UAC prompt appears, confirm it.
Go to the following path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ EOSNotify
If the value of Dword DiscontinuueEOS is listed in EOSNotify, double click on it and set the value to 1. If it is not present, create the value (right click on EOSNotify, select New> Dword value (32 bit )).

To remove the warning in Windows XP

those who decide to stay with Windows XP may uninstall the Windows XP Support Service Notification Update (KB2934207) so that they no longer see any messages that remind us: " the support service will stop on April 8, 2014 ... "
To uninstall the update, if it has already been installed, open a DOS window and type the command: C: \ WINDOWS \ $ NtUninstallKB2934207 $ \ spuninst \ spuninst.exe / quiet / norestart
Then reopen Windows Update and scan for new updates until you see the one with the abbreviation KB2934207. Remove the cross next to it, close the window by clicking on Close and, in the next message, put a check in the " do not notify me more about this update " selection.
If you do not want to uninstall the update but only make sure that the Windows XP expiration warning no longer appears, you must instead go to the registry keys. From the Start menu, go to Run and then write regedit .
Navigate to the path \ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion and add on the right side a DWORD DisableEOSNotification key with value 1.
