How to use Facetime for free phone calls and video calls from iPhone

Facetime is one of the best features of the iPhone, a little hidden, a little limited, but still completely free and very useful.
With Facetime it is possible to phone friends or even make video calls, using the wifi network or the internet data network, without the need to install any additional applications.
It is worth remembering to have this possibility because the FaceTime service is completely free even when calling from abroad, since calls and video calls are made through the internet .
The limitation of Facetime is that it can be used only on iPhone (from iPhone 4 onwards), on iPad, (from iPad 2 onwards) and on iPod Touch (from the fourth generation).
Therefore only friends who use an iPhone or iPad and not other types of smartphones or tablets can make calls or video calls with Facetime (therefore Facetime cannot be used with Android).
Calls and video calls are only 1 to 1, therefore not for group video conferences.
In order to function, Facetime requires that the user who uses the iPhone be logged in with an Apple account and that the function has not been disabled.
Furthermore, Facetime can also be used from Mac computers, not from Windows PCs.
Setting up and using Facetime is really simple and just follow these steps:
Open the iPhone Settings, go to Facetime and activate it and then make sure that the phone number in use is correct and that you are logged in with the Apple ID.
Activating Facetime may cost, only the first time, the price of an SMS message that is deducted from the credit.
At this point, just open the phone book, select a contact and check if the Facetime icons are colored blue or if they are white.
If they are blue it means that contact has an iPhone (or iPad) and you can press the video call button or the handset button in the Facetime section to call them for free.
You can also make calls via Facetime using Siri, saying the words " FaceTime [name] " (the name must be registered in the address book).
There are only three Facetime options:
1) The call waiting .
Call waiting can be used during a FaceTime audio call.
When you receive another call, both Facetime and normal, you can end the ongoing call and accept the incoming call, accept the incoming call and put the current call on hold, reject the incoming call and continue the ongoing call .
These options appear automatically if another call is received.
2) Block unwanted calls
In Settings> Facetime you can add blocked numbers, which can no longer call us via Facetime.
3) Facetime during a phone call
If we are on the phone with a person who has an iPhone, a button to start Facetime appears in the call interface.
Simply tap this button to turn the normal phone call into a Facetime audio call and continue without interrupting and without consuming phone credit.
In order to call and video call friends who do not have an iPhone and Facetime, I remember the apps to make free calls over the internet, first of all Whatsapp, and the apps for free video calls, among which Google Duo stands out.
