The navigation tabs are now part of the main browsers such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera and all the others. Thanks to the tabs, it is possible to open websites side by side simultaneously and to leave them open in the same window.
If you want to obtain the same function in Windows windows, to manage files and folders, you can install some tools to open folders with explorer tabbed resources such as QTTabBar or SE-Explorer.
However, if you want to give a different style to Windows windows and if you are a loyal user of the Google Chrome browser, you can install the small Clover program on Windows, which brings Chrome tabbed browsing on Windows 7, XP and Windows 8 .
It is a simple program for adding tabs in the user interface of the Windows file manager.
Clover is absolutely free and, even if it works as an extension for Windows Explorer, it installs like any other program, without deception and with a few clicks, to be easily uninstalled if it doesn't like it.
The tabs behave exactly like those of the Chrome browser, with rounded corners, the "x" sign to close them and the button to open a new one.
On the upper left side there is the old wrench (disappeared from version 23 of Chrome) which in this case serves to open a new tab or a new window or to activate the favorites bar .
Favorites is a nice feature of Clover because it allows you to save folders for quick access, as you would with Chrome to quickly open your favorite sites.
To add a folder to your favorites just drag it with the mouse on the bar located under the tabs.
An open folder can also be added to favorites by pressing the CTRL-D keys.
As in Chrome, with Clover you can duplicate or block a tab on the right by pressing on its header with the right mouse button.
Shortcuts are also the same as Chrome: Ctrl + T to open a tab, Ctrl + W to close the current tab, Ctrl + Tab to switch between different tabs and others.
All tabs open on the same window which becomes a much nicer and more functional Windows folder and file browser than the standard one.
Normal Explorer menus remain and are not changed.
