Youtube is a large and immense television channel where you can watch all kinds of videos, coming from traditional, musical TV or created by amateur users and professional publishers. Youtube is also very useful for following guides on how to do anything, explained verbally by an expert person.
When you see a guide on Youtube spoken in English, you can activate the subtitles in order to read what is said .
For example, in this video on Google data centers, you can read what is said by the voice by activating the English subtitles by pressing the relevant button in the lower right.
From Youtube you can also read the entire speech by pressing the interactive transcription button located near the Share button.
After activating the subtitles, from the same menu, you can activate the automatic translation into another language .
Even if it is not perfect, it is therefore possible to read the Italian translation of a video in a foreign language .
That's not all, Youtube has announced that it has activated the automatic subtitles function also in other foreign languages : German, Italian, French, Portuguese, Russian and Dutch which are added to the Japanese, English and Spanish languages already active for some time.
All videos uploaded to Youtube with the subtitles activated can therefore also be read in Italian and translated into Italian .
The function of subtitles is of two types: auto-generated through Google Translate's speech-to-text technology or with the addition of the text of your speech precisely transcribed, without relying on the imperfect automatic tool anyway.
An example of a video in Italian with activated subtitles is that of a cookaround where a cooking recipe is explained.
The important thing is that it is now possible to open a video guide in any language that has subtitles and translate them into Italian to understand what it says.
To find videos with subtitles, use the video search and then, from the results page, select "Subtitles" in the options.
