Surf without battery drain with Edge or Internet Explorer

Microsoft's historical web browser, Internet Explorer, is a program that seems destined to disappear sooner or later, replaced in Windows 10 with Microsoft Edge, but which still remains useful to use in some circumstances. In particular, it is always worth using Internet Explorer to surf the internet when using a battery powered laptop, to consume as little energy as possible and conserve as much duration as possible.
The reason for this lower consumption is that Internet Explorer is a browser built into Windows with a distinct compatibility advantage compared to the others, the same as Safari on a Mac.
Internet Explorer saves energy on a Windows laptop if you change a particular setting in the control panel.

Then, from the Control Panel, open the Hardware and Sound Settings > Power Options section .
Click on the " change combination settings " link next to the selected energy combination and then click on Change advanced energy settings . In the list of advanced options you will find one related to Internet Explorer.
If it expands, you find the option to change the javascript timer frequency setting from Maximum Performance to Maximum Energy Saver .
Taking almost for granted that Internet Explorer is not used as the default browser, it is worth making this change regardless, on every Windows laptop, so that when you run out of battery power you can continue to surf the internet by closing Chrome or Firefox and continuing with the Microsoft browser.
The impact of this change can be verified using a particular benchmark tool called PeaceKeeper, which serves not only to measure browser performance and find the fastest on your PC, but also to measure the energy consumption and battery charge of a web browser.
After testing with Internet Explorer first with the Maximum performance setting, then with the maximum energy saving setting, I had 2562 and 2145 respectively, which is almost a 16% drop in energy consumption .
However, it should be noted that the browsers that consume less energy are Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge in Windows 10. This is because they are lighter applications, which consume less memory than ever and are faster.
As for the other browsers, it is possible to test with PeaceKeeper, running it first with Chrome, then with Firefox. The energy problem is above all of Chrome, which has become a gigantic program and full of integrated functions that go far beyond those of a normal browser, which uses a lot of computer resources while consuming energy. To save battery with Chrome you should change the options, in particular the one not to leave Chrome running in the background and then follow the guide to speed up Google Chrome if slow or heavy.
