Scan old photos with Google's Fotoscan to have them on PC

Google has released a new special application that allows you to digitize old photos so you can take them to your smartphone or PC .
Practically it is a camera app designed to photograph old photos printed on paper, i.e. those taken when still photographic cameras were used with the film.
Obviously the app optimizes the shots so that the photos are perfectly optimized, as if they were taken directly from the phone.
This Google app is a great opportunity to digitize and bring on the PC memory all the old photos that we are most fond of, those of when we were little, those that we keep attached to the walls or in family albums and even paintings or paintings.
Google's Fotoscan app can be downloaded for free for iPhone and for Android smartphones and is immediately usable by following the diagram that is presented on the first start.
Then press the button to start a scan, frame the photo to be scanned and take a photo by pressing the central button.
After the shot, you have to frame the four dots drawn on the screen with the camera, which allow Fotoscan technology to optimize the image and eliminate any reflections or perspectives.
Finally, wait for the processing and view the result by tapping the dot next to the shutter button.
The scanned photo can then be adjusted with two tools, the one to rotate the image and the one to crop the corners in order to eliminate any whites.
At the end, you can save the scan that will be viewable in Google Photos, to which FotoScan is closely connected and which must be installed in the phone (also because with automatic backup it allows you to automatically bring them to your PC too)
From Google Photos you can then use the integrated editing tools to possibly add a filter to improve it.
Among these filters are those called " Bazaar " and " Modena " which have been added on purpose to replicate the effect of the photos of the old film.
This Google app is definitely the best of its kind, although it is not the only one.
If you want to try other alternatives to scan and digitize old photos, also for Android smartphones and iPhones, we can also download for free:
- Photomyne (Android and iPhone) is a little popular app but with a very important unique function if you want to digitize the photos in an album.
This allows you to save scan multiple photos at once, saving a lot of time.
- Tinyscanner (Android and iPhone) is the most popular in this category (before Google's Fotoscan arrived) and scans photos cleanly, with edge detection and perspective correction.
- CamScanner (Android and iPhone) is instead a very powerful app that serves to transform the smartphone into a real scanner suitable for documents and photographs.
CamScanner had already been mentioned among the best apps to scan documents and save them in PDF on Androi and iPhone
