Consume less internet data on 3G / 4G traffic and WIFI (Android and iPhone)

Surfing from your mobile phone can be slow or limited depending on the mobile data plan for which you have the subscription. As long as you use a wifi connection, everything is fine, but when the 3G or LTE connection comes into play, you have to be careful not to exceed the bandwidth limit that can be 1 or more GB depending on the internet provider. Unfortunately, in Italy telephone companies such as Tre, Vodafone and Wind are not that generous.
If you use your smartphone a lot, both Android and iPhone, to surf the internet, you must be careful of how much bandwidth you use each month.
To consume as little bandwidth as possible, by more than 40 or 50% compared to normal when opening websites with the browser and also to load the sites faster there are very advantageous applications and tricks, both for iPhone and for Android .

1) Using Chrome to reduce the use of data
If you use the Chrome browser on the iPhone or on any Android device such as the Samsung Galaxy, you can browse faster and consume less data thanks to its compression function. Data usage reduction is enabled in Chrome settings, in bandwidth management options.
This mode was discussed extensively in the article on how to reduce data consumption in Chrome (on Android and iPhone)
2) Opera browser
Opera for Android exists in two versions, an Opera Mini that also works on low-end phones and the other Opera which is a more complete browser. Opera mini compresses data and saves bandwidth by default while Opera normal has the " off road " option for data compression. Opera reduces data like Chrome does, by passing them through a proxy before returning them to the user's mobile phone.
Privacy note
When using the web browser to compress the data, it is routed to the developer's servers who can then see what we are seeing. Of course, passwords and sensitive data are encrypted (and HTTPS web pages are not compressed) but Google and Opera will know all about which pages are visited. If that's not a problem, you also get some advantage in opening uncensored sites, even if they are stuck in a country.
3) For Android you can download and install the Google Go app, which routes network traffic and compresses it, any site opened via the Google application browser. To activate this function, you need to open Google Go settings and activate Lite mode.
4) The Google Datally app which serves to save Giga of traffic and works with all the apps, not just the websites opened by the browser.
5) My Data Manager is an application that I mentioned in the past in the article on how to avoid extra costs of internet data connection on consumption with the smartphone .
With the app active on your mobile phone, all data downloaded from the internet is compressed like Chrome does, but globally for all apps .
The result is that you save a lot of network bandwidth every time your mobile phone goes online .
Those who use My Data Manager will be amazed at how much each transfer, download, upload and connection goes faster with the data connection, especially if you use the Facebook and Instagram apps.
6) On iPhone, disable Wifi Assistance, the function that automatically activates the data network in case of a weak signal.
7) Disable apps to use the data network
In the network settings of Android and iPhone you can disable individual applications to use 3G / 4G data traffic.
On the iPhone the function is found under Settings -> Mobile phones while in another article I wrote how to limit apps to use the mobile network on consumption on Android
