Until a few years ago, PDF files were difficult to manage on your computer and a different program was needed for each operation. Today, however, creating, merging and editing the contents of a PDF document has become extremely simpler, also thanks to the large number of programs and websites that provide the tools necessary to operate with this type of file.
In this guide we will see the best programs and sites to extract and reorder the pages of a PDF, so that we can extract only a part of the content of the document and arrange it in a new file, ready to be sent by post or shared with colleagues.
All programs and websites reported are free, we will not have to pay a single euro to be able to work on PDFs.

1) PDFFills Tools
PDFill Tools is the first program that we recommend trying on Windows to work on PDF files. It is absolutely free, without advertising and without limitations.
The program is actually a suite of 15 tools that can be started separately, each with a particular function linked to PDF.
For the purpose of this guide, we will have to use the Split or Reorder Pages item, which allows you to extract pages from a PDF file and subsequently save them a new document with the possibility to reorder them as needed before creating the new document.
In addition to this functionality we will also have available: Rotate Or Crop, which allows you to rotate a PDF page of 0, 90, 180 and 270 degrees or cut out a part of the page; Reformat Multiple Pages, which allows you to combine multiple pages into one to save printer paper and ink; Convert Images to PDF, useful for converting images to PDF files; Convert PDF into images; which instead allows you to convert from PDF to image file (one for each page).
Here we have reported only the most common tools that can be used with this suite, but we invite you to try them all so that you always have everything you need at hand to be able to work effectively with PDFs from Windows.
2) ApowerPDF
Another very useful program for extracting and rearranging pages from a PDF is ApowerPDF, offered by the LightPDF website (which also allows online conversions).
With this program we will have an all-in-one tool with which you can extract pages from any PDF, just load the document into the software, click on Pages at the top and finally click on the Extract menu in the left sidebar.
In a short time we will be able to extract and reorder the desired pages, so as to generate a new PDF document.
The program is offered for free, but it is advisable to register an account in order to benefit from all the features without limitations (in unregistered mode it inserts watermarks in the generated documents).
3) Advanced PDF Utilities Free
Another suite of tools for editing PDFs is Advanced PDF Utilities Free .
With this program, in an interface that vaguely remembers Office, we will be able to extract and reorder PDFs by loading the document and using the options available in the PDF Split menu, where you can separate the pages according to a precise range or by personally indicating the numbers to be extracted .
A valid tool for anyone who wants to work with PDFs on Windows, offered for free and without limits.
4) PDFSam
Another free and open source program that we can use on Windows is PDFSam .
With a clear and simple interface, it allows you to edit any type of PDF, with the possibility of choosing which pages to extract and how to reorder them to create a new document by clicking on the scissor-shaped button ( PDF Cut ) or on the page-shaped button extracted ( PDF Split ).
In order to use it, Java installed on the PC is required and the Basic version (simpler to use) is available for free without time limits; if, on the other hand, we want an advanced program with an Office-style interface, we can consider PDFsam Enhanced, which offers numerous additional tools and an interface worthy of an office, so as to support it with Office during daily work.
5) Smallpdf (online)
If not we want to use programs on the PC, we can rely on various online solutions to extract and reorder pages from a PDF.
One of the best websites is without a doubt Smallpdf, which has a section dedicated to separating pages from a PDF .
All we have to do is drag the PDF document into the web page or click on Choose file to open the management software, then wait for the upload; on the next page you will be given the opportunity to choose which pages of the PDF to extract and how to reorder them.
At the end we just have to confirm and wait for the download of the new PDF file, containing the pages we have selected.
As an additional option we can also upload the documents present on Google Drive or Dropbox, by clicking on the respective buttons (present at the bottom right of the upload window), so that we can also act on the documents that we have previously uploaded to the cloud.
6) iLovePDF (online)
Another very effective website for extracting pages from a PDF is iLovePDF, which provides the user with a page dedicated to dividing pages from a PDF .
The only thing we will have to do is drag the PDF into the window, so as to immediately start uploading to the site; as an alternative we can also use the Select PDF file button (which will open the file manager of our computer) or click on one of the two Google Drive or Dropbox buttons on the side (to upload a PDF stored on these cloud services).
Once the file is loaded, we select the pages to extract, reorder them according to our criteria and start the online conversion; in a few minutes we will have a new PDF file downloaded from the browser containing the pages that we have decided to extract from the main document.
