Check if your PC is ready for Windows 10

Windows 10 is available for everyone from July 29, 2015, as a system made following the advice of users, eliminating what we hated about Windows 8 / 8.1 and instead bringing the best of Windows 7 and 8.
The best thing, however, is that Windows 10 is a free update for those with Windows 7 and 8 and it will be really impossible not to, unless there are hardware or software compatibility problems.
To avoid unpleasant errors when updating and using Windows 10, Microsoft has created a program that checks the compatibility of the computer to verify that there are no compatibility problems.
Meanwhile, let's start by saying that if a PC was fine to install Windows 7 and especially Windows 8.1, there will certainly be no problem to install Windows 10, which is also lighter.
Even if most PCs are compatible with the new operating system, it is always better to do this small and simple check above all to check if we have all the driver updates to make all the connected devices work.
The compatibility checker tool for Windows 10 can be downloaded directly from the Microsoft website and is only for Windows 7 and Windows 8.
Those who have Vista or XP can use the compatibility check tool for Windows 8.1 since if you can install Windows 8.1 on a PC, Windows 10 is certainly fine.
The Windows 10 compatibility check is then automatic if the Windows 10 update notice appears next to the clock.
Then click on the Windows icon at the bottom right and, in the booking window that warns the user about updating Windows 10, click the button with three lines at the top left.
From the menu that appears, click on " Your PC is ready " to find out if there are things to fix or if we are already there.
The compatibility check is done on devices and programs (Apps) and identifies any drivers or software that on Windows 10 may have difficulty working properly.
The official minimum hardware and software requirements for running Windows 10 on a PC are as follows:
- 1 GHz processor or more
- 2 GB RAM for the 64-bit version, 1 GB for the 32-bit version
- 32 GB disk for 64 bit 3 32 bit versions (from the 1903 version of May 2019)
- Video card compatible with DirectX 9 or higher with WDDM 1.0 driver.
- Minimum screen resolution: 800x600.
There are other requirements in case you want to install the 64 bit Windows 10 version and, more precisely, that the computer processor supports CMPXCHG16b, PrefetchW, and LAHF / SAHF.
To check if your PC works with Windows 10 it is better to read the requirements page for Windows 10 .
In this list you will notice that the PC processor where you want to install Windows 10 must support SSE2, NX and PAE technologies.
Even if the PC was ready, it must be considered that having an old computer or on which programs that have not been updated for years are used, these could stop working.
If any program or driver is incompatible, it will be necessary to check whether its manufacturer has released an update and, if not, to request it (provided that this manufacturer has not closed the shop).
