Registry Cleaner: more problems than benefits

One of the most popular topics on computer sites and blogs is that of Registry Cleaners, that is, programs that clean the registry keys of the Windows system .
The development of this type of software has flourished in recent years and manufacturers are continually trying to convince users that they need to clean the registry from errors by downloading or even buying their products.
The promised result is that of a faster and more efficient computer.
It really will be "> Ccleaner.
This program is the basis of Registry Cleaners and, even if it does not go too deep, it ensures you from any risk of making mistakes.
Once again I want to repeat that, even with Ccleaner, there will be no noticeable increase in performance on the computer.
The reason why it is worth using it every now and then is only to do computer maintenance with the benefit of correcting those small errors caused by everyday use.
Rather than using Ccleaner or other programs to clean the Windows registry and obsolete files, it may instead be convenient to use a full program uninstaller that also removes the registry keys associated with it.
Going forward with the reasoning, other programs of the "cleaner" type promise to optimize the system registry by defragmenting it.
However, the registry is loaded into the computer's RAM (not the disk) when it starts, so defragmenting does not actually affect overall performance.
If you want to defragment the registry you can always use a program such as Auslogics Registry Defrag or other advanced registry editors, however recommended only to experts.
Speaking of ancient history, Microsoft, several years ago, let download its Registry Cleaner called RegClean for Windows 98.
Due to problems and complaints in its use, RegClean has been retired.
This is what happens when inexperienced and inexperienced people on the computer start playing with these tools and Microsoft immediately understood that it was better not to give this possibility.
Maybe it's not as decisive as a reason, however, it should be noted that, if cleaning the registry was so important for Windows, Microsoft would certainly have included, among the Windows tools, in addition to the tool to defragment the disk, a good Registry Cleaner that instead it is also absent in Windows 8.
In the end then we could say that:
Registry cleaners offer no noticeable increase in performance ;
Registry cleaners can create problems for computers ;
Although they work without problems, they are often a waste of time .
To increase PC performance, there are other, much more effective ways (see some tips to speed up Windows 7 and Vista), avoiding falling into easy pitfalls.
Ccleaner is still useful to always have on hand for a more or less regular maintenance but without thinking that, without it, the computer goes slower because there are other reasons (see how to manage the startup of programs running automatically on Windows)
