Quick changes to Facebook privacy and activity log with filters

Facebook, as a gift from 2013, has changed again the way users can manage their privacy settings, this time in order to facilitate and make more visible the conditions of visibility of publications on their profile.
Facebook has brought all the main options found in the privacy settings of an account, in the foreground, trying to make them understandable and easy to change.
Since every time Facebook changes profile options there is always a bit of confusion, let's see what has changed in the new button with the padlock located at the top, near the Home button .
Pressing on the small padlock opens a window with links to the main Facebook privacy options which are, in sequence:
- Who can see my things.
- Who can contact me.
- Reporting who annoys me .
At the top, with a blue background, there is the Facebook privacy control, which was discussed in another article.
There is not even too much need to give explanations this time because the settings are very easy to understand.
The first set of options is a summary to decide who can see our profile, who can read the published posts and who can look at the photos.
By clicking on the link of the other settings, at the bottom of the box, you access the general screen of the privacy options that have remained identical to before in substance but have changed in the way they are presented, now more clear.
You can then decide who can search for our profile and you can block individual accounts or groups of people so that they can never bother us on Facebook again.
A complete guide to configure the visibility of everything on the Facebook profile is in another article which explains above all how to create groups and create different levels of privacy depending on the type of contacts.
The ' View As ' option is now easier to use and immediately accessible from the quick menu of the privacy links.
It immediately shows how our profile looks to the public, then, on the black bar at the top, you can write the name of a friend to see how this person sees us.
You can therefore see your profile seen by the public or by a specific person, without other intermediate possibilities.
Another thing changed is the Activity Log, accessible from the profile page or from the Settings button in the top bar.
The changes are intended to improve the organization and management of our activities on Facebook.
If before it was a long list in chronological order difficult to read, now you can use the quick filters on the left to see the comments made, or the photos in which you have been tagged and all the "likes" facts.
There is also the " diary check " item to approve or not the tags in posts and photos if tag control has been activated (press the wheel at the top to check).
There are also application activities, added friendships, news, updates, groups, events and almost everything you can do on Facebook.
There is also a list of all the searches made on Facebook under the Search item (expand the list on the left by pressing on Other).
The new Activity Log now has two excellent functions: it allows you to delete many photos at once and allows you to filter what has been published over time on your profile, based on its visibility.
This filter is located at the top, useful to see what has been shared and with whom.
The Activity Log also allows you to review your diary in order to quickly delete things from the past that were better left unshown.
Unwanted tags can be removed from posts from the Activity Log and requests can be sent to friends to remove such content.
The real news of Facebook introduced with this update is the presence of a filter on private messages .
In fact, you can decide whether to receive messages from everyone, whether friends or not, or whether to prevent anyone who is not a friend from writing to us .
Finally, there is a better management of Facebook application notifications .
Going to the account settings, at the notifications tab, you can press on the applications section to quickly remove the possibility of apps to send notifications with a click.
It is therefore no longer necessary to uninstall games or block them to no longer receive invitations, just turn off the notifications and make them silent.
For once, Facebook's changes will not give reason to complain about privacy invasions and everything becomes easier to understand and configure.
The new button for quick settings is really appreciated because it is visible and accessible from any page of the social network.
However, the previous guides on:
- how to hide friendships on Facebook
- how to hide likes and personal information
- how to tag photos and check tags on Facebook.
