How to Activate the Hotspot on iPhone (Wi-Fi or Bluetooth)

Using the hotspot function on the iPhone is extremely convenient because it allows you to connect other devices to the Internet using the iPhone's LTE data connection, thus taking advantage of all the GB offered by the operator even when we are away from home. If we don't find any public hotspot or the Wi-Fi to which we are connected outside the home is too slow (very common, since it is provided to many customers), we can solve the problem by activating the hotspot on the iPhone and using it to connect a computer laptop or tablet, so you can navigate anywhere, anytime.
In this guide we will show you how to activate and use the hotspot on an iPhone and find out which option to activate between Wi-Fi and Bluetooth .

Activate the Wi-Fi hotspot on iPhone

To activate the Personal Hotspot on an iPhone, go to the Settings -> Personal Hotspot app and enable the button on the screen.

Once the voice is activated, a new Wi-Fi network will be created with the name of the iPhone in use. The screen will also show you the password to be used to connect to this new wireless network ( Wi-Fi password ). This password is supplied by default with each new iPhone, but can be changed by selecting the appropriate menu and choosing a new alphanumeric password (possibly safe, so as not to fear intruders).
Now that Personal Hotspot is enabled, we can connect any other device with wireless connectivity to the Internet: a Windows PC, other iOS devices, a MAC, an Android mobile phone or tablet. To connect, all we have to do is search for the new wireless network in the menu or the icon dedicated to the wireless connection, click on the name of the hotspot network created by the iPhone and use the password displayed during activation.
The connection speed varies according to the strength of the telephone signal displayed on the iPhone, the type of network used at that time (4G / LTE is the best) and the telephone operator we are using, but we can guarantee you that you will get a speed almost always better than the public Wi-Fi hotspots offered by shops or businesses.

Activate the Bluetooth hotspot on iPhone

As an alternative to the Wi-Fi network, we can also use the Bluetooth connection to create the hotspot. To activate it, go back to Settings -> Personal Hotspot, enable the button on the screen and go back, so you can open the Bluetooth menu and activate the homonymous item.

Now that Bluetooth and the hotspot are active, let's go to the Bluetooth device to connect to the Internet, enable the technology and look for the name of the iPhone to connect to in the search field. After clicking or tap on the name, select Pair and check on the iPhone if the connection code is identical to that shown on the device to be connected. In a few seconds the connection will be made and the iPhone will be configured as a Bluetooth modem, ready to offer Internet connectivity.
In order to navigate at an adequate speed, we recommend that you keep the iPhone as close as possible to the device on which we connected it (no more than 1 meter), so as to take full advantage of the connection speed of the technology.
As you can see for yourself , Bluetooth is currently slower than Wi-Fi, so we may notice a lower connection speed compared to the exploitation of the hotspot seen previously (although much also depends on the speed offered by the telephone operator in that precise moment).
