Receiving rings from private and hidden numbers, which do not reveal who they are and perhaps insist with continuous, very annoying silent calls, can be a problem that, if continuous and repeated, can also lead to the crime of stalking or harassment. Even if in the most serious cases of stalking or harassment it is always possible to contact the authorities and the police by making a complaint whose results, however, may also come after several days, you can immediately make an investigation on our behalf to find out who calls us hiding his private number .
There are several tools to find out the private or unknown number of a phone call received or an anonymous ring and the most important is the one called Override Service, a little-known legal weapon that is available to all Italian citizens.
The Override service is nothing more than the request that can be made to the telephone operator that we pay to make calls to get a statement with the details of all the calls received and, in particular, the numbers that made our landline phone ring or smartphone, even if it was a private and anonymous number.

Activation of the Override service requires you to send a form, also called a disturbance call form, which must be filled in with all the required data and identity document by post, by registered letter or by fax, depending on the operator and it is never free, and indeed requires a sum of money up to 30 Euros.
The Override service lasts for 15 days.

If you don't want to pay for the Override service, which is certainly the most effective but also very expensive method, there are other tricks to find out the private number of those who call us or make anonymous calls to us .
In particular, the most effective trick is that of the now famous Whooming application, which I have already talked about in the article on how to find out who calls anonymously on a cell phone.
The operation of this ingenious app is based on the diversion of calls to their service that reads the numbers in the clear even of those who want to remain private and hidden.
To use Whooming you need to sign up for free to the site and then set the forwarding of rejected calls (rejecting a call means being busy) or of all calls (if the problem is anonymous ringing then we will be forced to pick up the stalker by diverting all calls for a certain period of time).
To activate call forwarding if busy on Whooming just open the numeric keypad of your mobile phone, dial the following number: ** 67 * 0694802015 # and press the call button.
To activate call forwarding for all calls, on Whooming, on the other hand, the code to be entered is ** 21 * 0694802015 # and press the call button.
Keep in mind that if you divert all your calls, you will no longer be able to answer anyone on your mobile phone.
For all the calls diverted to Whooming, only those refused or all depending on how you chose to set up the service, you will receive an email with the number that called, in writing, even if this had remained hidden and private.
Whooming is a free service if you accept the limit that numbers can only be displayed after 24 hours.
If you want to use it more punctually, then you can pay for the premium service with a 10 Euro top-up that runs out depending on the calls received and discovered.
To find out whose phone number has called us, as already explained, it is quite simple.
Very briefly, today, it is possible to identify and block commercial phone numbers, with the free Truecaller app for Android and iPhone.
For private mobile numbers, however, the easiest way to know who they belong to is certainly to search for the number on Facebook or, if you didn't have Facebook, to add the number to the phone's address book and then look on Whatsapp for what name is associated and also the photo of this person.
Whatsapp, which everyone now uses, has become the largest and most complete list of mobile phones in the world that can be freely consulted.
