Turn your PC or Android into a Chromecast receiver

We have seen that even in Italy you can buy Google Chromecast, the mini receiver to be attached to the TV to watch the internet and movies, which costs only 35 Euros.
With this small object that looks like a USB stick to be attached to the TV's HDMI port, you can stream Youtube videos or surf the internet using your smartphone, iPhone or tablet as a remote control.
We saw in another article the Chromecast guide with 16 tricks and applications to make the best use of it
What you can do with a Chromecast can be obtained with any other Android device via an app that acts as a streaming receiver ready to be controlled by another mobile phone.
You can then get a wireless connection between an Android mobile phone -> another mobile phone or Android device -> optionally a TV .
For example, a Nexus 4 can be used to remotely control a Galaxy Note 10.1 which is connected via Mini HDMI cable to the TV.
The app to use is AllCast Receiver, free that transforms any other Android device into a receiver similar to the Chromecast (which replaces the defunct Cheapcast).
You can then choose from your mobile phone what to see on the tablet (and on the TV if connected), using it as if it were a remote control and what you see on the controller, you can also see on the receiver .
AllCast Receiver requires that both devices, Android phones or tablets, are on the same Wifi network.
The application must be downloaded on the device that acts as receiver while on the one that acts as controller and transmitter Allcast must be installed
On the receiver, start the application and follow the configuration steps by choosing a name and starting the service.
Once AllCast Receiver is active, a notification icon appears indicating that it is running in the background.
To project what you see on the screen of the device it transmits on the receiver, simply start the Allcast application and start playing a video or a song.
AllCast automatically detects the other device and streams the stream to the receiver.
AllCast Receiver also works to transform the PC into a Chromecast receiver, so to project what you see on the phone, on the computer monitor.
To do this, you only need to install the Chrome extension of AllCast Receiver .
For the same purpose, i.e. to use the PC monitor as a TV with the Chromecast, there is also an official Google app called Google Cast for Education .
Once installed and activated, the PC will be seen as a transmission output for any Android or iPhone app that supports Chromecast.
The idea of using a mobile phone as a remote control is not a real novelty.
In other articles we have seen, for example, how to use the mobile phone (iPhone and Android) as a touchpad and keyboard for the computer, which becomes a similar solution, if you connect the laptop PC to the TV
We must not forget that Youtube has the possibility of pairing a TV or another computer with the mobile phone to use the latter as a remote control (see: Youtube TV full screen to watch videos on the TV )
