Enter the curriculum on the Facebook profile with professional skills

Facebook is certainly not a social network created to create working relationships, but inevitably, due to its enormous success, it has become much more than a social site for friends.
Since everyone is on Facebook, it is obvious for example that on the one hand, employers can look at the profiles of candidates for a job to choose the one they like best, while on the other, job seekers can propose themselves in various ways, maybe even by contacting companies directly.
Even if the social network to create working relationships is Linkedin, even on Facebook, recently, it is possible to add professional skills to your profile, which until recently did not exist.
Then go to your profile and open the information section.
To make the Facebook profile as a curriculum vitae, in the Work and Education section, click on Edit and note that a new and empty field relating to Professional Skills appears.
These should come in handy for job seekers, so they can be found on Facebook in the case of searches based on professional skills.
Then set up public visibility and write professional skills that represent our technical or working skills.
The skills refer to the Interest pages such as, for example, the page for IT or for Webmasters.
At the moment, it is not possible to create new skills beyond those already present.
If you want to do a public search on people working in IT, you can use the new Facebook search box which, for the moment, is activated only by changing the language of Facebook to English (US), looking for People who work at Computing and then refine the search from the box on the right.
If you are looking for work, it is also important to keep a semi-professional Facebook profile that can be found and visible, which is publicly visible only in its best parts, hiding and blocking any type of questionable or inconvenient update.
It is therefore about improving the public profile by writing smart things and, at the same time, using the privacy settings to show status updates, personal or controversial opinions and photos only to close friends.
The trick is to keep all new default status updates protected, so that they are not publicly visible and only when you write something smart that is not about sports, politics or romantic relationships, publish with public visibility .
In addition, to highlight the "serious" status updates, it is also advisable to highlight them in the diary by pressing the button with the star that brings the news to the fore.
To prevent all updates from being public, just go to the privacy settings and change the central part by putting on " Friends " or " Personalized "
Once this change has been made, you can always make public content published on your profile by clicking on the " Friends " or " Personalized " drop-down menu next to the Publish button.
In public updates it is necessary to avoid saying bad words, making grammatical or spelling mistakes, taking sides too openly from a political or religious point of view, launching stadium slogans and avoiding writing phrases that can affect the sensitivity of the reader.
In this way you can appear on Facebook as an intelligent and balanced person and you avoid any possibility of being unpleasant to possible employers.
Of course, avoid complaining about the current job or the head of the office from previous work experience.
But how do you do it if in the past a lot of content and inconvenient status updates have been written "> cleaned up the Facebook profile, 6 things are important:
- Have real name and surname without strange nicknames.
You need to make it easy for others to find your Facebook profile so it's important to use your real name.
To choose the username, click on the Account Settings menu and make the change in the General Settings.
- Have a profile photo, always visible to everyone, that is informal, even smiling, but still with an intelligent expression.
The same goes for the cover of the diary.
- Make your profile searchable to everyone .
If you want to use Facebook to your advantage then you absolutely must not hide but look your best and be found.
From the privacy settings, click on the edit button next to the wording: " Listings, applications and websites " and allow public search.
The advantage is to use Facebook as if it were a personal site, getting free advertising for themselves.
If the future employer wants to search for the candidate's name on Facebook, he / she will be able to find a clean and professional profile, and will have no reason or excuse to refuse an interview or hiring.
- Keep your professional history updated
Facebook is absolutely not similar to Linkedin and is not designed to create business relationships.
The fact remains, however, that more things about a person can be discovered on Facebook than in any other way.
In the general information section of the profile, you can fill in your curriculum with previous studies and work experience which it is important to keep up to date.
The good thing is that for each professional experience or study added, you can set a different visibility so, if you prefer to keep some information private, you can do it.
- Be careful what you share with Likes by reading the guide on how to hide "Likes" and personal information on your Facebook diary
- Checking the tags on the photos is always recommended, even more so if you want to make your profile more professional and serious.
In addition to preventing you from being tagged in inconvenient situations, you should also change the visibility of photos already published (see Facebook privacy guide).
