Since I also bought one of these Fidget Spinner, even if it is not really a technological device, I still wanted to talk about it, to understand what it really is, how it is used, what it is used for and why it is having a worldwide success of extraordinary proportions in recent months, so as to be first in the sales charts of games and toys all over the world. The Fidget Spinner (Fidget that stands for Finger Gadget) was conceived in the USA by Catherine Hettinger about twenty years ago to entertain her daughter and who, despite the invention, did not earn a single dollar from Fidget's sales because of the commercial success it only came after the patent expired.
The aim is simply to keep your hands busy, becoming excellent as anti-stress, to manage anxiety and nervous energies, as well as a fun game. Fidget is above all a game for children, who can use it, as well as for pure entertainment, also to improve their ability to concentrate. This device is in fact capable of providing support to people with autism, attention disorders and hyperactivity.
For those who do not know it, the Fidget Spinner is a particular wheel that rotates between the fingers of the hand, held by a central disc to be held with the thumb and forefinger or middle finger. You can push with your finger using one hand or you can hold it with one hand and rotate it fast with the other looking for maximum speed.
<Personally I bought it because I couldn't resist the curiosity to try this small gadget so popular and also because it costs quite little, from 5 to 10 Euros at most. Holding it in hand and spinning it, there is a certain satisfaction in watching how the wheel turns between the fingers, fast for many seconds, with very little friction that makes the ride very smooth and continuous, even with a nice background noise. Although there are various Fidget Spinner models, the shape of these rotating devices should always be the same, with a central handle for two fingers and three vertices with a round shape. The most famous variant is the one with two opposite vertices, lighter and faster. There is also the nut-shaped Fidget Cube, designed for those who never know how to stay still, characterized by mobile gears and buttons that activate various games to be done with your fingers for anti-stress (but that does not turn).
The only drawback with these Fidget concerns the complaints of teachers and teachers of middle and high schools that see the boys spin these wheels continuously, distracting themselves from lessons. As usual, when something goes out of fashion, it ends up abusing it so it is not surprising that in many schools they have also been banned (and not only in Italy, but especially in the US apparently).
Spinner Fidget has become so popular in Italy today that it is possible to buy it not only in toy stores and also at stalls.
