Amazon is undoubtedly one of the best e-commerce stores available in Italy, with offers for all types of products, fast and safe shipping and a truly unbeatable after-sales service, especially in case of problems with the order . All this quality is paid for by inserting credit card data among the payment methods for Amazon, and for those who are attentive to privacy and information sharing on the Internet, they immediately realized that neither PayPal nor the PayPal service are supported . the most famous financial intermediation in the world) nor direct debit on a current account, a practice widely used by those who prefer to use the current account for purchases instead of using credit cards.
But all is not lost: in this guide we will show you how to use PayPal on Amazon (through a dedicated card) or how to use a current account on Amazon .

Payment methods supported by Amazon
Amazon allows you to pay for its products using a card that supports one of the following circuits:
- Visa
- Visa Electron
- American Express
- Mastercard
- International Master
- Card Yes
This means that practically any credit card, debit card or modern prepaid card (including PostePay and PayPal card) can be used for the payment of orders on Amazon.
If our card supports one of the following international circuits you can buy on Amazon without problems, just make sure that it has a 16-digit PAN (the card number), this is because some prepaid cards may have a 19-digit PAN and not they are fine, they are rejected by Amazon even if there is support for the international circuit.
How to use PayPal on Amazon
The PayPal service is not supported directly within Amazon (therefore no direct debit), but nothing prevents you from inserting the card that we associated with the PayPal account as payment method to pay!
One of the best cards we can use is the PayPal prepaid card, which allows you to quickly move the funds in your PayPal account and reuse them for purchases on Amazon.
We can also use other prepaid cards, but in that case the time to move the funds can be longer (up to 5 working days); only with the PayPal prepaid card will you get funds that you have moved from the PayPal balance almost instantly, ready to be used on Amazon.
First, get the PayPal prepaid card, available in all Lottomatica tobacconists at the activation cost of € 9.90; we can find a Lottomatica store by connecting to the store search site available here -> Search the Lottomatica store .
We will have to bring the tax code and identity card with us, in order to associate our name and surname with the card.
Once the card is obtained, we can activate it by visiting the dedicated home banking page present here -> Home Banking PayPal card .
If it is the first time we log in, we click on the item My first access to activate your account and obtain the Internet Code and password to access the card's home banking.
If we already have the access codes, enter them in the required fields and click Login .
Now that the card is up and running, it's time to add it as a method to your PayPal account; open the personal PayPal page by clicking on the link here -> PayPal .
Click on Login at the top and enter the access credentials of our PayPal account (be careful not to enter the credentials of the PayPal card, which are different!).
If we don't have a PayPal account yet, we can open one using the link here -> Register with PayPal (Personal Account).
Once you have accessed the PayPal home page, click on Portfolio at the top, then on Connect a card .
A new window will open, where we will have to enter the type of card (in this case we choose Prepaid PayPal), the card number, the expiry date and the CVV security code of the same (3 digits on the back); make sure our address is listed as the billing address, then click save .
PayPal will request a card confirmation by charging a random amount (between € 1 and € 2), which will soon appear on the card statement (2 or 3 working days maximum); as soon as the transaction is present in the card account statement (log in as seen at the beginning of the section) enter the security code entered in the random of the transaction to end the verification and get the amount used on the PayPal balance credited.
Now the PayPal prepaid card is associated with the PayPal account, you can transfer the money of the latter to the card and use "in fact" PayPal on Amazon, just add the PayPal card to the associated payment methods on Amazon.

Enter your Amazon login credentials and click Add a card .
We will be asked for the name of the card holder, the PAN number of the card (16 digits) and the expiry date of the card; at the end we click on Add your card to add the PayPal card on Amazon.
We are ready to use PayPal on Amazon, even without direct debit (card transactions are so fast that it will seem to really use PayPal on Amazon!).
How to use a checking account on Amazon
Using the current account on Amazon allows you not to move funds from one account to another or from a service to a compatible card and therefore to buy with greater speed on the e-commerce site.
Unfortunately Amazon does not support the crediting of bank transfers or direct debit to the account, but we can still use a current account on Amazon through the debit card or debit card associated with our current account!
Compared to the credit card (which charges the costs only at the end of the month on the current account) the debit card directly uses the current account balance for payments, therefore in fact using the ATM we use the current account for purchases, even on Amazon.
Before adding an ATM or debit card on Amazon we will have to check (also on the bank's website) if the following options are available on it:
- 16-digit PAN : necessary to be able to add the ATM on Amazon;
- Support to an international circuit : the ATM card chosen must also have an international circuit compatible with Amazon (Maestro or Mastercard, but also VISA); Bancomat, PagoBancomat or VPay circuits are not supported by Amazon;
- Enabling online purchases : the ATM card must have the three-digit CVV code on the back and (if necessary) we will have to activate it for online purchases on the bank's website.
If our card meets these requirements, nothing prevents us from adding it as a payment method on Amazon, using the Amazon payment methods screen.
Click at the bottom on Add a card and enter our name, the 16-digit PAN and the expiry date of the ATM and finally click on Add your card to add the ATM card on Amazon.
Now we can buy on the famous e-commerce site using the current account directly.
