We made videos with the smartphone camera and we want to enjoy them on the new TV in the living room, so that all friends and relatives can see them "> See Movies and videos on Smart-TV from PC, web and smartphone 1) LocalCast (Android and iOS)
If we have a recent Smart TV (Samsung, LG or other TVs with DLNA support) we can use the LocalCast app on our Android devices, downloadable for free from here -> LocalCast (Android) and LocalCast (iOS).
Once this app is installed on our mobile phone, simply open it, select the video from those present within the device (just visit the Videos folder) and, among the casting devices available, choose our TV from those present.
The app very well supports all modern TVs with Smart functionality, but it is also compatible with Chromecast, Roku, Amazon Fire Stick and Apple TV; if we use one of these devices under the TV, we can use them to view all the videos saved on the smartphone without any problem.
This app has no transcoding capability, so the chosen video file must be natively compatible with the TV or the chosen playback device to be able to play correctly (for example files with AC-3 audio we will only be able to see the video, without audio ).
2) BubbleUPnP for DLNA / Chromecast (Android)
If the files are not played correctly on the TV or on the device in use for playback, we can rely on Android smartphones to the BubbleUPnP app, downloadable from here -> BubbleUPnP .
This app allows you to send the videos on your smartphone to any TV and, in case of incompatibility with some codecs, allows you to activate the transcoding system capable of converting each file on the fly at very high speeds (at least on fairly recent phones) .
In this way we will be able to view on our TV any type of video recorded by the smartphone or downloaded from the Internet, without necessarily having to move it to a USB stick (the method quite obsolete to watch videos on TV).
The app becomes even more useful in combination with the BubbleUPnP server, which allows you to interface with other media servers on PC or NAS, so you can manage your multimedia content on LAN without having to move them from one device to another: we can thus browse videos saved on your PC and view them on TV without having to move anything, but using the streaming capabilities of this app.
3) UPNP / DLNA Streamer for TV (iOS)
Unfortunately BubbleUPnP is not available on the iPhone, but alternatively we can use the UPNP / DLNA Streamer for TV app on the bitten apple products, available for download from here -> UPNP / DLNA Streamer for TV .
By installing this app on iPhone we will have access to all the folders and multimedia contents saved on the mobile phone, with the possibility to connect to any TV and transmit videos in high definition on the larger screen.
The app is very simple to use and integrates perfectly with other content indexing services such as Plex, Kodi and iTunes, so that you can also view the contents correctly purchased or indexed on other sources.
4) Web Video Cast (Android)
If we have seen an interesting video on Facebook, Twitter or on any other website, we can send it to TV using an app like Web Video Cast, available for download from here -> Web Video Cast .
To make the best use of this app, open it and use the integrated browser to open the pages of our interest (for example, log in to Facebook or other social sites where we see many shared videos).
Once the video on the web has started playing, click on the Cast symbol at the top right and wait until our Smart TV appears among those available at the connection.
We connect the app to the TV and now press the Play-shaped symbol at the top, on the app bar: select the video stream of our interest in the new window and play it on the TV without any problem.
The app very well supports all modern TVs, but also DLNA TVs and Chromecast, so you can play content anywhere.
5) iWebTV: Cast Web Videos to TV (iOS)
The Web Video Cast app that we have seen on Android is not developed for iPhone, but fortunately there are similar apps that work very well!
The best of these is iWebTV, available for download from here -> iWebTV .
The operation is very similar to the previous app: we open the website where the video is contained, then select among the available destinations the Smart TV or the device in our possession for streaming (Chromecast, Apple TV or Fire Stick).
The video will be immediately reproduced on TV at the highest quality, without having to download it; a godsend for those who watch many videos and movies on the Internet but would like to benefit from the larger screen in the living room.
6) In case of non Smart TV "> Ethernet cable of at least 4 meters e we use the apps listed above to be able to watch videos via DLNA (if it is supported by TV and if the necessary codecs are present).
If the modem is too far from the TV and / or we want to make a wireless connection, we can use one of the following devices (to be connected to a free HDMI port on the TV):
- Chromecast
- Amazon Fire TV Stick
- Android TV Box
- Apple TV
Using one of the devices listed above we will be able to send any video from your smartphone to the TV, even on older models.
