Block people and contacts on Whatsapp

If we want to prevent a person from contacting us on Whatsapp, as happens in any messaging application, we can do it directly from the app, so as not to be disturbed by the annoyers or by people we wish not to hear.
Applying this block on WhatsApp we will put a barrier between us and this contact, so that all the messages he tries to send us will not be received.
At the same time this contact will no longer be able
see the time and date of our last access, will not know if we are online and will not see any changes to the photo and profile status.
Obviously the block is bi-directional therefore, those who use this option towards someone will not be able to send messages in turn (it would not make much sense!).
We see in this guide how to activate the block on WhatsApp on Android devices and iPhones, with an in-depth analysis at the end of the article in which we will see how to find out if we have been blocked.

Before continuing, it is important to know that blocking a person is different from deleting a contact from WhatsApp, which can only be done by deleting his number from the general telephone directory.
In this case the person will no longer appear in the app, but will still be able to send us messages (they will appear in a new chat where there is only the contact's phone number, without a name).
The block applied through the WhatsApp app also allows you to block the calls and video calls that can be made through the service, protecting us from harassers who call at any time.
Another important thing to know is that a blocked person can also be unblocked, in case of second thoughts: just follow the same steps described below and unlock the contact by holding on it.
If we do not yet have WhatsApp installed on our smartphone, we can install it using the links we have entered here -> Android and iPhone (iOS).
1) How to block contacts on WhatsApp for Android
On Android we can block a contact on WhatsApp by opening the messaging app, clicking on the three dots at the top right and opening the Settings item.
From the menu that will open, go to the Account -> Privacy path, then click on the Blocked contacts item.

To add contacts to the list of blocked ones, click on the top right to open the contact list and confirm the names we intend to block.
Once added to the list we will no longer be able to send messages to the user in question and he will no longer be able to view our chat, as well as send messages or make calls / video calls.
To unblock a contact just reach this menu, press and hold on the name to be unblocked then use the Unblock item: immediately the contact will be able to reply to us and receive our messages.
Alternatively, we can block the contact more quickly by opening the chat of the contact to be blocked, clicking on the three dots at the top right, clicking on Other and using the Block item.

In this way, we will be able to quickly block the contacts that disturb us and from which we no longer want to receive any type of communication.
2) How to block contacts on WhatsApp for iPhone
The procedure for blocking contacts on WhatsApp on iPhone is slightly different than when seen for Android.
First we open the WhatsApp app, then go to the Settings menu at the bottom right .
From the window that appears, go to the Account -> Privacy path, then click on the Blocked item.

In the screen that will be shown, simply click on the Add item to be able to block people and contacts from the list of friends in the app.
As already seen for Android, to unlock a contact blocked by mistake or "forgiven" just reach the menu again, hold on the name and use the Unblock contact item: we can immediately send and receive messages and calls / video calls.
In order to apply the block faster, we can also act directly from the chat of the contact to be blocked: we open the above from the Chat menu, then we tap with the finger on the name of the contact (above).
From the new menu that we will see scroll down to find the entry Block contact, with which you can prevent the person associated with it from disturbing us.

From now on, the contact will not be able to send us messages or initiate calls / video calls.
3) How to find out if we have been stuck
You suspect someone blocked us on Whatsapp "> message on Whatsapp has been read).
Another important test may be trying to call the contact: if we don't hear an answer or a busy signal for more than 24 hours, we have most likely been blocked.
