Yahoo Messenger as a fun messaging app for Android, iPhone and the web

Those who chatted on the internet at the time of MSN Messenger or ICQ, surely will also have used Yahoo Messenger, one of the most famous chat programs in the world until a few years ago, until Facebook and Whatsapp arrived.
When it seemed destined to disappear, Yahoo, in its attempt to stop or at least slow down its inevitable decline, today launched a new version of that famous chat program, making Yahoo Messenger return as a web app and as an app for Android and iPhone .
The new version of Yahoo Messenger is a welcome surprise because it becomes a fun alternative to Whatsapp and Facebook Messenger, with some unique features that will be appreciated especially by young people.
Thanks to the close integration with the Flickr and Tumblr photo services, Yahoo Messenger becomes the ideal messaging app to search and exchange personal photos, funny photos and GIF images with friends .
UPDATE: Yahoo Messenger has been permanently retired.

Using the integration with Flickr you can even send hundreds of photos at a time that will appear in the conversation almost instantly because they are already stored online.
Recall that the Flickr app allows you to save photos online almost without limitations, a bit like Google Photos does.
In Yahoo Messenger it is also easy to do something that in other messaging apps you still can't get, the exchange of GIFs.
GIFs, or animated images, are treated by Yahoo Messenger as if they were Emoji .
Thanks to the huge GIF archive provided by Tumblr, you can search for the most suitable GIF to express a reaction to a message or to share funny animations.
Other unique and interesting features included in Yahoo Messenger are "likes" and the cancellation of a sent message .
Unlike Whatsapp, where a message, once sent and sent, can no longer be hidden from the recipient, in Yahoo Messenger you can delete a message or photo from the conversation at any time, making it disappear for all participants in the chat.
The Like however allows you to express appreciation for a message immediately, without having to write anything.
To access Yahoo Messenger after downloading the app for Android or the app for iPhone (still not available at the moment) you need to enter, as in Whatsapp, your phone number.
Friends who are registered and whose phone number is in the address book will be automatically added to the contacts.
Contacts will also include Yahoo Mail contacts.
Yahoo Messenger can also be accessed from the website or from Yahoo Mail .
Whichever platform you use, the messages are synchronized and can be read by the app on the phone or via the web without differences.
At this point it is difficult to say how successful Yahoo Messenger may have seen that Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp have now become the standard for mobile messages.
The attempt is still appreciable and thanks above all to the GIFs, it can also become the funniest app with which to chat with friends.
