In this article we see some apps that can be very useful for groups of friends or families who want to have a tool that can detect everyone's position in real time and at any time, in order to be easily found . Although this may seem disturbing in some aspects, in reality the purpose of these tools is not so much that of control, but rather a way to stay in touch to be used during trips, during holidays or group trips, before group meetings or to have the family united and always available, not always but only in some moments. They are therefore locator apps where, consensually and with special permissions, members of a group can always know the position of others, to find or follow friends with GPS and map .
1) Familonet (find and protect family members) (for iPhone and for Android), for example, is an excellent example of these applications, free of charge, which does not require registration with an email address or Facebook profile, but simply by providing the name and telephone number. Once the position transmission is activated, the contacts, who obviously must also have installed the Familonet app, can see and follow us in real time on the map and they can also transmit their position. The app also allows you to save the most popular locations and, therefore, mark your home, office, school or others as special places.
Whenever one of the contacts arrives in one of the special destinations, you will receive a notification. Contacts can also be organized into groups, to separate Friends from Family and to share the position only with one group or another.
The application also has a panic button for emergencies, a private chat and the ability to share photo albums.
2) Glympse, for Android and iPhone, is one of the most popular apps of this genre, also used among work colleagues.
The application specializes in temporary location sharing.
Since each "Glympse" lasts only for a maximum of four hours at a time, this is not the ideal app to monitor children, children and relatives, but it is perfect for a group of more or less numerous friends who must meet, knowing at all times where is everyone.
It also works well when you go on vacation with friends and split up for a short time.
The application allows you to share the position even with those who do not have the application installed and also allows you to request a Glympse from someone to find out where they are.
3) Foursquare Swarm for Android and iPhone is a fun app that turns location tracking into a game. The application allows you to see which friend is nearby in order to maybe reach him. You can then share your location with your contacts, but without real-time updates like with Familonet and Glympse, just by fixing a location.
4) Life360 Family Locator, for Android and for iPhone, uses circles to manage contacts in order to share more or less details depending on the circle of people. Each circle has its own private map, and anyone in the circle can see everyone else's location.
The messaging function allows you to communicate instantly with everyone or even with a single person.
As in Familonet, there is a "Places" function to add the most frequented destinations and be warned every time someone arrives there.
The Life360 website also offers an anti-theft device, i.e. a phone check in case it is stolen.
5) GeoZilla Locator For Family, for Android and for iPhone, is similar to Familonet, with the difference that the app also integrates with other social networks and allows you to transmit the position to Facebook friends. It is also possible to synchronize all check-ins in the various places where you go, on Facebook.
It also has a location history, great for reviewing where we have been in the past (Location history is also a feature of Google Maps). Another useful feature is the ability to add reminders or appointments, assign them to a certain location and share them with a contact. As soon as this person approaches the saved location, they will receive a notification on their phone to remind them what to do.
