It is not a question of sympathy or interest, the fact is that Google in Italy is the only reliable search engine, the one that manages to bring out search results, consistent sites and updated web pages. Yahoo and Bing are certainly not up to Google and if perhaps in their American version they can compete, in the Italian version they are the most obsolete you can find.
The Microsoft Bing search engine, although not good for everyday use, does however have important functions that Google does not have and can be used for some specific searches.
So let's see 5 types of searches that are worth using Bing instead of Google .
First of all, to take advantage of the Bing tools, you need to change a setting.
Then open www.bing.com, press the settings button at the top right and set, in the WORLDWIDE) tab, and put English (US) .
Then in the general settings tab put the Italian language.
1) Search for air ticket prices .
Now access the flight search by pressing on " Other " to enter the " Travel " section.
Bing Viaggi can predict when the price of a flight could rise based on historical trends, which Google is unable to do.
Bing Viaggi is among the sites to find the least expensive air flight and the best travel offer (In fact, Google Flights also has the history of flight price trends).
2) Search for all sites connected to a certain domain
Google has many operators and search options, but Bing has one that is missing from Google which can be really useful: " linkfromdomain: " which highlights the outgoing links of a site sorted by importance.
For example, you can search for linkfromdomain: navigaweb.net to see which links are mentioned in the pages of this blog.
While not perfect for every search, it can be helpful to know which sites are listed on favorite blogs.
3) Video search
Since Google owns Youtube, it did not take much care of the search for videos inside it as Bing did.
If you have to search for a particular video not only on Youtube but all over the web, in other sites such as Dailymotion, Metacafè or others, it is worth using Bing Videos
Bing displays a grid of video thumbnails that are previewed if you hover over a single result.
It has many of the same filters as YouTube video search and adds related searches to discover interesting new videos.
4) Search for freely usable images for your work projects
Photos and images published on the internet are often someone's intellectual property and cannot be used for profit-making projects without recognizing royalties.
While in Google this option is there but it is almost impossible to find in advanced search, by looking for images on Bing you can instead set a filter directly from the License menu at the top and find photos and images that can be used without problems for commercial purposes and also to be modified.
5) Look for Facebook pictures and photos of friends on Bing
However, this feature that we talked about some time ago has been removed.
