Updated on 19.12.13 Yahoo launched a new mail interface yesterday that changed the way we read and send emails a bit and, let me say, this time for the worse.
In spite of an aesthetic improvement, the Yahoo Mail management page seems to have cut several features, leaving unused space and hiding some parts for no reason.
Meanwhile, there are no longer the tabs that were a bit the hallmark of Yahoo Mail compared to the main competitors Gmail and Outlook.com.
Now everything turns on the same page, aesthetically better, but less practical if you liked the fact of being able to open multiple messages together or to search on e-mail.
But what I don't like is the fact that, on the right, the folders in which e-mail can be organized are hidden and appear only by pressing the folders button.
If you use filters to automatically categorize incoming messages by placing them in different folders, these emails are not counted in the inbox.
To finish the graphic style, what is presented at the beginning is a shot in the eye but fortunately this can be changed.
For all these reasons we see here how to return to the normal view of Yahoo Mail and restore the old interface in full, including the tabs and folders .
The options menu accessible at the top right is more compact than before and contains the same options in a certain order.
What needs to be changed immediately is the style of the text of the messages and the layout with the preview of the message that should be placed at the bottom and not on the side.
In the display settings you should change the density of the messages to detach them more while in the writing settings you should enlarge the font which, by default, is small.
Save the changed settings.
By pressing the wheel button at the top right you must also change the colors by choosing a less bright theme, perhaps blue to avoid being blinded or unable to read.
As for the folders that only show up when you click on the folders link in the left menu, you can do something to correct it.
Go back to the same settings menu as before and, in the Email display options, set basic and not " Complete functions ".
This change brings Yahoo Mail back to the old interface, a little too simplified in its functionality, but which at least goes back to showing all the folders.
UPDATE: The tabs are back in Yahoo Mail by popular demand.
To enable them, click on the View menu at the top.
You can also browse Yahoo Mail using the Recents.
Yahoo Mail in the Recent section, which is located under the Folders button, shows the last 10 emails that have been opened.
In the Recents section there may also be the draft of a new message that was being written or the reply to an email to be completed or even a search.
We can therefore postpone the decision to abandon Yahoo Mail, at least for now, since we can go back to the old normal interface.
