5 things to do to maintain your laptop and make it last long

While normal desktop PCs are usually worth little and lose salable value in no time, a laptop is always valuable.
It is not necessary for a MacBook to be paid 1000 Euros, even an Asus or an Acer from 400 Euros remains good for several years and can always be resold at a figure not less than half the price.
So unless you want to find a ridiculous excuse to buy a new, nicer and more powerful one, a laptop, with proper maintenance, can last a long time and serve for any type of job or activity with full efficiency.
Below we see 5 things to do for laptop maintenance while taking into account the general recommendations made for computer maintenance covered in another article.
1) Treat the laptop laptop with care
It seems trivial to say it but it is obvious that the basis of maintenance is that of careful and prudent use.
Laptops can be fragile depending on the model, have delicate screen joints and should not be shaken too much.
You should never put a laptop on a bed or place it on your legs in order not to cover the air vents.
Fortunately, most of the components can be easily replaced.
The main problem is the wear of the hard disk which remains, together with the screen, the most fragile part of a laptop that can break if it is shaken or subjected to shocks.
2) Clean it in order to keep dirt away from vents, heat sinks and air vents .
Computers attract dirt naturally because of the fans and the spaces inside the keys.
It's not just a matter of hygiene, dust clogs the air vents and causes the computer to overheat and ruin it.
Keeping the internal hardware cool significantly increases its life.

3) Keep the operating system lean and free of weights
If a computer becomes slow, it is not the fault of old age but the frequent use of the PC.
In a recent article I explained why a computer becomes slow over time and, above all, we have seen the causes and solutions of a slow computer.
The important thing is to limit as much as possible the programs that start automatically when the computer is turned on and manage Windows startup in the best way.
4) Perform regular updates of programs and operating system
No operating system or program is perfect, but with each update, the problems become a little less and sometimes new features are added.
The software update of a computer is the basis of its maintenance and we have already seen how, with a program like OUTDATEfighter, you can always keep your PC updated automatically.
5) Update the laptop hardware
For most people, portable hardware upgrades seem impossible, but they are not.
In fact, in most 15-inch laptops it is possible to replace the CD DVD player with an SSD solid state hard drive .
You can move Windows to the SSD drive and see it fly literally than before.
Having an SSD in your laptop will not only make it go significantly faster, but will also make it last longer, becoming less vulnerable to possible failures of the mechanical hard drive used so far.
In addition, you can add more RAM easily, increasing it with another memory bank.
Increased the RAM maybe up to 6 or 8 GB, you can then install Windows 7 or 8 64 bit and take advantage of the computer at full power (See the advantages of Windows 64 bit).
If then we also follow the advice to make the old laptop bought a few years ago come back quickly then, really, there will be no need to buy a new one.
