Video editing has become, over time, something that has no longer found the right balance: on the one hand it is possible to use an app to edit videos on the smartphone that, generally, work automatically and are simple for everyone or there are the professional programs, the expensive ones and the free but difficult and complicated ones (see also best programs to edit videos on PC). In the end, despite the passing of the years, the free program to edit videos on Windows PC with more functions while remaining the same simple and within everyone's reach is still Windows Movie Maker, always available for download, but no longer updated for several years now .
Now, however, we can try a welcome free alternative, a program created for Linux systems, open source, released for Windows and Mac, which wants to combine simplicity and power: OpenShot .
Openshot is a free video editing program complete with many professional features that can be used through a friendly and non-cryptic and confusing interface as it happens in similar programs.
The main window has a tabbed section so you can open several videos at the same time.
When you select a file to use, it appears in the upper left corner of the user interface and can be added to the bottom timeline.
On the right, you can see the preview window to check if the changes made are good or to cancel.
You can then edit videos together and add images, audio files and music by mixing the various contents as you prefer.
Once a video file has been added to the timeline, you can also add special effects by dragging it from the Effects tab.
The program also supports resizing videos, mixing audio, rotating videos, adding titles, writings and subtitles on videos.
OpenShot can also be integrated with programs such as Blender and Inkscape for manipulating 3D animations.
The download of Openshot for Windows and Mac can be done from the official website and weighs around 180 MB.
