An excellent free program called Auto Speed Tester (for all versions of Windows) allows you to perform internet speed tests, automatic every hour .
The main interface of the software program is very simple and, without having to configure anything, you can immediately press the " Run Test " button at the top left to start the first check. Leaving Auto Speed Tester running, checks will be performed every hour so, throughout the day, it will be possible to check when it is faster, when it is slow (and, if necessary, make the right complaints to the manager). Each control provides precise numerical data on the download, upload, Ping, Jitter speed and the percentage of packets lost (must always be 0). Jitter indicates the degree of network congestion and the time that passes between sending a packet and the one after. Poor quality connections have sharp slowdowns at certain times of the day, when routers are overloaded and queues form. This problem is one of the main reasons why a connection is slow even if the provider promised different performances
By clicking on the Configs button in the main interface, you access the menu for configuring the program.
The three configuration pages are download, upload and ping / IP . Unfortunately I would not know how to change the test settings, in the sense that it is possible to choose, on the Download tab, from a drop-down menu which server to connect to for speed control in data exchange but I would not know how to add an Italian node, of the city from you connect to (ideal condition).
Under Upload there is no need to change anything. On the Ping / IP tab you can instead write the address of a famous Italian website such as www.repubblica.it or www.virgilio.it .
A graph on the right shows the measured values, there is the calculation of the average and the detection of the best performances of all time, week, month and day. Each check takes no more than 30 seconds and can be done silently in the background.
The advantage of the program is the calculation of the internet speed over time and the fact that each control can be customized.

SpeedTest is the best resource for this type of verification, because it allows you to choose the Italian city and make a reliable speed test.
