Moving the Windows taskbar sideways vertically is better

The Windows taskbar, also called the taskbar or taskbar is an important part of the desktop where there are the Start button, the clock, the icons of the background programs and those of the open programs.
After each installation of Windows, from Windows 95 through XP to Windows 10, the taskbar has always been there, at the bottom, as we are used to seeing it, with not too many changes in the passage of the various versions.
After all these years, we may never have thought that we have always been wrong to use this toolbar effectively and wasted the space made available by our monitor which is certainly wider than long.
From this article we can discover instead that you can move the Windows taskbar where you want it on the screen and that probably the best way to use it is in the vertical position .
To have the sidebar vertical, in each version of Windows you just have to unlock it and move it with the mouse.
Then press the right button on the bar at the bottom and click on the " Lock application bar " item to remove the flag or check mark (if it is already removed, leave it as it is).
Now the bar can be moved and to do this you must press the left mouse button, leave it pressed and move the mouse on one side of the screen, above, below right or left.
You can also move the toolbar from Windows 10 Settings.
Then right-click on an empty space on the bar, go to Settings on the taskbar and then scroll through the options until you find the Location menu.
Once the bar has been moved, it can also be enlarged .
To do this, put the mouse on the edge until you notice that the cursor becomes a double arrow, press and hold and move the mouse with the left button to enlarge it or make it smaller.
once satisfied, right click on the bar to lock the position again.
The main advantage of keeping the taskbar vertical on the desktop is the net gain of screen space.
With the monitors of the past, those with a 4: 3 ratio, the horizontal taskbar was perfect, but now that the screens are wider than long it is going to sacrifice space on the shorter side which is not convenient.
If you use a 16: 9 monitor, in fact, you gain vertical space for the program windows by sacrificing for the taskbar a part of the right or left edge which, however, is practically superfluous for almost every open program.
For example, just open sites like Google, Facebook, Navigaweb.net or others to notice that almost nobody uses horizontal space, but they are all vertically scrolling.
Another advantage of the horizontal taskbar is that it can be enlarged a little so that you can view the complete date and time, all the icons of the taskbar without hiding any of them and the titles of the open programs.
Each window is a separate row on the taskbar and it also becomes easier to locate the icon and name of the window.
Positioning the toolbar sideways, vertically, is also convenient for those who use two monitors together and for those who have computers with a touchscreen.
The only inconvenient thing about keeping the taskbar vertical is if you use a lot of two windows side by side to see them together on the screen, you will have less space.
Furthermore, obviously, if for all our lives we have used an application bar at the bottom, we will have to get used to the new position again, also because the Start menu remains at the top right or left.
Of course, those who come from Linux systems will find this configuration much more familiar.
