On Youtube you will find everything, tutorials, product and video game reviews, video conferences, political speeches, TV broadcasts, news reports, documentaries and much more. However, many times the most interesting videos are also very long and it can be difficult to find time to watch them or follow them in full.
For the "not everyone knows that" series, Youtube has an incredibly effective, but very little used, feature to save time watching videos.
Without having to install any extension or program on your PC, you can play any Youtube video at a higher speed, without compromising listening.
To speed up the viewing of Youtube videos, simply click on the wheel button at the bottom of the video and change the speed, setting it to 1.25, 1.5 or even 2 times faster .
You can also choose to slow down the Youtube video by half or 0.25 which is practically a slow motion.
While slowing down the video can come in handy when you are following a technical tutorial to follow in real time, speeding up the video saves a lot of time.
If you are listening to a speech or video review, it can be followed at 1.25 or 1.50 times faster, without losing understanding of what is being said.
This function of the accelerated or slowed down video can be made easier by installing the Video Speed Controller extension which allows you to use the ASD keys to speed up or slow down the video without ever having to click with the mouse.
The ability to speed up videos is available, for now, only on the web version of Youtube and not in the apps for smartphones and tablets.
