Resolve "unidentified network" error on Windows

The internet connection is usually automatic on each PC and you just need to connect the network cable or click the detected wifi network to go online.
Only in some cases there could be an error or a connection problem which, if it does not depend on the router (and therefore if other devices, computers and cell phones connect normally), could depend on a bad configuration of Windows.
The message that appears in the event of an error can be that of the unidentified network, which usually depends on the fact that the PC does not receive a correct IP address to access the internet.
The icon of the network connection near the clock, both that of the wifi and that of the ethernet cable, therefore shows a yellow exclamation mark indicating a problem.
Although in another article I have summarized everything that needs to be done to solve internet connection problems, most of the time there is a simple solution to the error of the unidentified network or " local access only ", using some commands.
In this guide we see how to resolve the error and reconfigure the network on Windows 10, 7 and 8 PCs .
In general, it should be done like this:
Open the Start menu and look for the DOS command prompt, right click on it and run it as administrator (alternatively, press the Windows-R keys together, type cmd and run it).
At the dos prompt, run the following commands to reset the WinSock, which would actually be the network management software in Windows, and press Enter after each line:
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset
Then run the command to reset and restore the DNS information stored on the computer and press Enter:
ipconfig / flushdns
Then restart your computer to complete the operation.
Restart your computer to complete the operation.

Once the procedure is completed, the PC should be able to connect to the Internet again, although it will be necessary to re-enter the password to connect to the Wi-Fi network as this information has been deleted and reset with the procedure seen above.
In Windows 10 you can also do a reset of the network connection from the PC Settings.
Then look for Settings from the Start menu, go to the Network section, then to the first Status screen, scroll the right side down and click on the Network recovery link.
