When Firefox introduced the Speed Dial function, users finally thought that the Mozilla browser had also adapted to the standards of others by providing an initial tab with thumbnails of favorite and most visited sites. The home page of Firefox is very different than that of other browsers (Internet Explorer, Chrome and especially Opera which makes quick access its flag) and, clearly less useful.
In addition to the fact that it must be activated manually, it only shows recently visited pages and does not allow you to indicate specific sites.
Fortunately, however, for every shortcoming of the Firefox browser there is an extension that corrects it.
FVD Speed Dial is the best Firefox addon for changing the quick access feature to your favorite and most visited sites or "Speed Dial" on the home tab .
FVD Speed Dial is a normal add-on that is automatically enabled immediately after installation.
Then press the + at the top to open a new tab and immediately notice that the new home page is divided into thumbnails that show the preview of the most visited websites .
Thumbnails can be edited with different sites and empty ones can be filled by clicking on them.
The home page can be customized in various ways by clicking the gear button and entering the extension options .
You can then choose what to display, how to order the thumbnails, which criterion to use, whether the most visited sites, the favorite sites or the last opened ones .
You can change the size of the paintings, to make them bigger and more visible.
Quick start groups can also be created to organize your favorite sites into categories.
The Appearance tab allows you to change the page graphics with different options which, despite being written in English, can be easily tried to see the effect.
In the subsequent option screens of the FVD Speed Dial you can also choose the maximum number of recently closed sites that can be displayed, the background of the quick start page and synchronization can be activated .
The Sync option is the one that most differentiates this extension from other alternatives.
Synchronization is based on another extension called EverSync which allows you to synchronize your home page and favorite sites so that you can access them from any Firefox browser and computer .
EverSync synchronizes the home page, bookmarks and other Firefox data.
To use it you need to create an account, install the extension on all the computers used with Firefox and then log in.
The favorite sites and the home page of the Speed Dial will always be the same, as is the case with Google Chrome.
To activate automatic synchronization and then save the quick start without having to do it manually you need to put a cross on the Auto Backup option.
FVD Speed Dial also allows you to protect the home screen of your favorite sites and history so that other users who use the computer and open Firefox cannot view it.
To set a password you can use the PassCode option, the tab next to the synchronization tab.
The password will be requested each time the FDV Speed Dial initial board is accessed.
