Replace audio on a video synchronously or by adding background music

Replacing the audio of a video is the operation with which it is to change the sound of a film or a video shot with your own video camera, instead putting music, a recorded comment or the audio of another video.
It is therefore a matter of merging a video file with an audio file so that while playing the movie, you also listen to the chosen sound track.
The latter can replace the original audio or act as a background.
This is the typical video editing operation that can be done, quite easily, with professional programs such as Pinnacle or Adobe Premiere.
In this case, we who do not want to spend money, try to make this replacement without spending money, using free programs.
First of all, for any operation to be done on the videos, you need to have the essential codecs installed to see everything.
To replace the audio of a video, the most recommended program is the number one of the open source video editing software, the famous Virtual Dub .
With VirtualDub it is possible to upload a video, go to the Audio menu at the top and choose, from the drop-down menu, " Audio from other file " to upload an mp3 file and make it replace the original.
Alternatively, if the audio of the movie was to be deleted, you can choose " no Audio " and save the video as if it were silent so as to prepare it to receive another track.
Virtual Dub should ensure that the audio is synchronized to the video but requires that the track (wav or mp3) be of the same length.
For those who need to have synchronization between audio and video, then with Virtual Dub you have to play a bit with the " Interleaving " Audio menu option.
From the configuration window, you have to put a value on the Delay Audio Track field which can be positive if the audio was in advance and negative if it arrives late.
If instead you had a video with audio not synchronized, you could try an automatic synchronization procedure.
Load the video and immediately save it as a Wav file.
From the video menu select direct stream copy, from the audio menu select full processing mode .
Always from the Audio menu you can load the Wav file saved before (which contains the sound of the film) by clicking on " use other file ".
Then click on Compression and choose MPEG Layer-3 of 96 kBit / s 48000 hz .
Now you can save as an Avi file with another name and check that it is synchronized.
Video experts will surely be able to give more technical specifications to this mini guide which, however, should guarantee an acceptable result, or at least a good starting point.
Cute Video Audio Merger is a simpler program that allows the simple fusion between a video and an audio file which can be music or other.
The application comes with a codec package that supports MP4, FLV, SWF and WMV formats and has the ability to add or replace audio to video files without the need for additional codecs.
The program is really simple and does it all by itself even if it doesn't provide options for synchronization.
But if you have an audio track of the same duration as the video, then I think it is the fastest and easiest solution.
The best solution to create a video by changing the audio or putting music in the background instead is the usual Windows Movie Maker (version 2010 only for Vista and Windows 7).
With Windows Movie Maker you can choose a piece of video dividing it into scenes and add a music or an mp3 audio track on it.
By playing with the volumes it is possible to replace the audio or superimpose it on the original.
Using the start and end boxes, it is possible to choose where the music begins and where it ends.
Where necessary, I remember other programs to create videos with music.
