All traditional computer operating systems include powerful search features. Not everyone knows that file searches can be saved as normal folders so you can reuse them whenever you want.
A " saved search " works like a virtual folder and contains files that are actually in other different and real folders.
This option is very useful to have easy direct access to all documents placed in different folders, to all images, music, videos or any other type of file with infinite possibilities.

To create a search saved on Windows 7 or 8, open a window of any folder in Windows Explorer and search within that folder and its subfolders or even on the whole disk.
For example, you can search for all executable files which can be installers or portable direct-running programs.
then write in the box at the top right * exe to find all the exe files.
The same thing can be done with JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP image files, with videos, mp3s, with doc or docx documents or other formats.
You can also search for all files that start with a letter or a word.
Once the search is done, press the Search Tools button on the ribbon at the top and click the Save Search button.
Windows saves the search in a file with an extension. Search-ms to which you can name at will.
The saved search also appears in the favorites list in the left column of Windows Explorer for easy access.
By clicking the Search-ms file, Windows immediately searches by presenting the results as if it were the contents of a virtual folder.
The list can be sorted in various ways, as you would a normal folder.
To delete a saved search, just delete the saved file and remove any links to it.
However, this function does not use additional resources, but requires that the indexing service is not stopped.
