Use a video or GIF as a desktop wallpaper on Windows

Finally in this blog a valuable article, which raises the general level of the blogosphere, to present a trick on Windows of those so useless that I personally like them very much!
One of the questions that surely won't make you sleep at night will now have an answer: "You can see a video or animated GIF image as a desktop wallpaper">
Microsoft had really taken the problem to heart back in 2007 when it released a program called Windows DreamScene, dedicated to the unsuccessful Windows Vista, which allowed you to set a video or animated GIF image as a desktop background.
Unfortunately Microsoft immediately withdrew Dreamscene which, by the way, no longer worked in Windows 17 and not even in Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.
Therefore, those who still want to use a video as a background in Windows 10 today must install an external program and, fortunately, there is one really easy to use that works well on every version of Windows.
It is Plastuer, a software designed to allow users to set an animated video or GIF as a background in Windows 10 and also in Windows 7 and 8 .
Unfortunately Plastuer is not a free program, but requires a free offer of money starting at $ 1.
I usually never describe paid programs here, but being the only one of its kind and costing only one $ 1 easily payable through Paypal, I think it can be done.
Plastuer supports AVI, MP4, OGG and WMV video formats.
This means that you can set an AVI, MP4, WMV or OGG video file as your desktop wallpaper, even if it were a movie or music video.
Plastuer is a self-contained program that requires no installation to operate.
You can then select any video saved on the PC.
Plasteur also supports animated GIF images for use as backgrounds.
In Windows 7 you don't need to pay even a $ 1 because to use a video as a background there is a tool called Dreamscene Activator that allows you to activate this function for free and without paying anything.
Another must-try program that works to watch a video on the Windows desktop is the Desktop movie Player which should also work on Windows 8 and Windows 10.
If you want a background with video that changes by itself and is already optimized, you can install the Push Video Wallpaper that shows images taken from beaches and other moving scenarios.
Alternatively, remember that in another article we saw how to use animated backgrounds in Windows and also how to see a video on the desktop via VLC, which is one of the most interesting tricks of VLC .
