Save photos and files in Onedrive and synchronization between PCs

Microsoft Onedrive is one of the most popular and most used cloud services in the world, both because Microsoft and because it is integrated into every PC with Windows 10 installed.
With Onedrive a cloud space becomes available (i.e. online on the internet) in which to safely store your personal files, especially documents and photos, which can then be opened, viewed and recovered from any computer or smartphone used with the same Microsoft account .
Compared to other competitors such as Google Drive / Google Photos, Onedrive has the advantage of being integrated into Windows 10 applications and of facilitating file synchronization between computers in an easy way .
Basically it allows not only to upload files online, but also to create a copy of the same files on different computers.
With this important feature, Onedrive becomes perfect for keeping photos safe without risking losing them and making them accessible even if the PC is not connected to the internet.
Onedrive file management can be done in two ways ; on the Onedrive.com web page or from the folder chosen in the Onedrive client configuration, which in Windows 10 can be found from a search on the Start menu.
The synchronization client allows you to choose the main folder of Onedrive, so that all the files inside are uploaded online in the cloud space.
For each folder and file inserted in Onedrive it is possible to choose whether to keep a copy on the PC or keep it only in the cloud .
This option is found by right-clicking on the various files and folders, clicking on " Always keep on this device ".
Other options related to Onedrive that are found in the right-click menu are the one to free up space and delete the copy on the PC, the one to share and the one to view the file online.
These last two options open the Onedrive web page, from which you can browse folders and open files as you would from a computer explorer.
The Onedrive web page is particularly useful when you want to access your personal archive from a PC that is not owned, perhaps that of a friend or a public computer.
From the file page on the site, you can right-click on a file or folder to share it.
You can then send the sharing link via email or even on Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter.
Still on the site, you can organize your files by creating folders and moving the various elements as you would on the PC.
A bit like Google Drive, in addition, from Onedrive it is possible to create new Word, Powerpoint and Excel documents online using the Office web applications.
The buttons to open Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Onenote are found by clicking the blue square button at the top left.
Of course, Onedrive also allows you to open documents without downloading them, including PDFs.
As mentioned above, Onedrive is also particularly convenient for saving and synchronizing PC photos safely.
The Onedrive Photos section automatically collects all uploaded images, listed in chronological order in the same way that Google Photos does.
Onedrive Photos are also viewable in the Windows 10 Photos app, which is updated and improved by Microsoft with each system update.
Look in the Start Photos menu to open Photos in Windows 10, which I also talked about in the Video Remix guide to create movies and image albums.
In Photos, you can browse the photos of Onedrive in the elegant interface of the application and also access the very powerful editing and sharing tools.
The Photos app also makes it possible to import photos of your mobile phone to PC in Wifi, with a direct connection.
Onedrive has therefore become a real online manager of personal images that can be shared or left private.
Each album is displayed with previews as if you saw it on the computer, with the possibility of creating slideshows and presentations and sharing the images with whoever you want.
These features are clearly limited by the free Onedrive account which allows you to upload data online only for 5GB.
To take advantage of a 1 TB space (i.e. 1000 GB) you can subscribe to the annual subscription for 70 Euros per year, which is a lower price than both iCloud and Google Drive and which also includes a subscription to Office365, to be able to use the Office program platform on a regular basis on PCs and tablets.
