Remove the Windows 10 Update Assistant

Windows 10 has an integrated service called Upgrade Assistant that helps users update the system by making sure that the hardware and software requirements for the next version of Windows 10 are met.
The Windows 10 Update Assistant can be removed, but it continues to reinstall itself forcing the user to install updates even if they don't want to.
Although you can use the settings to delay the update of Windows 10, sometimes the Update Assistant doesn't follow these rules and automatically installs the latest version available.
This occurs especially when a user returns to the previous version, where even using the option that postpones updates, does not stop the assistant from reinstalling the latest version of Windows 10.
In cases where you do not want to have the latest version of Windows 10 immediately, it is therefore useful to disable the Windows 10 update assistant and choose to update it manually when you think it is the right time to do it.
In this guide (taken from TheWindowsClub) we therefore see two temporary solutions and a third more extreme and permanent one.
1) Uninstall Windows 10 Upgrade Assistant
First, you can remove the update assistant program.
Press the Windows + R keys together to open the run prompt, write the appwiz.cpl command and press Enter.
Then scroll down the list to find and uninstall the Windows 10 Update Assistant .
Next, open a folder on the disk where Windows is installed, usually the C: disk, look for a folder called Windows10Upgrade and delete it.
Empty the trash, restart the computer to resolve the problem.
Unfortunately, this update assistant will be installed on your PC following other automatic updates, so you will have to check after each new update if it has returned to remove it again.
2) End the Windows Update Assistant process
This solution (very weak in reality, deserves to be refined) does not remove the Windows 10 update assistant program that returns continuously, but automatically terminates the Windows Update service every time it is run.
To do this you must create a script using an empty sheet of Windows Notepad.
Then press the right mouse button on the desktop and go to New> Text Document .
In the notepad write the following text:
@echo off
taskkill / im Windows10UpgraderApp.exe / f
Save the file with a nom name, for example, WUAKiller.bat (important that it is .bat and not .txt).
Next, right click on the file and run it as administrator.
So make sure it stays hidden and put it in the Windows 10 autorun folder (located in C: \ Users \ profile name \ AppData \ Roaming \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Start Menu \ Programs \ Startup )
3) Stop the Update Orchestrator service
The Update Orchestrator service manages Windows Update, which is the installation of Windows updates.
If the service is stopped, the PC will not be able to download and install the latest updates, all of them.
This is something not recommended since Microsoft distributes fundamental security patches every week, but if necessary, it is possible to completely and permanently block the update assistant with this method.
Write the word Services.msc on the Windows 10 search bar to open the list of services and search for Update Orchestrator Service .
Open it and press on Stop (it is not possible to disable it).
In conclusion, since Windows updates are important and must never be disabled, if the problem is the Update Assistant and that of wanting to postpone the installation of the Windows 10 Updates, the best solution to disable it is the first one, even if it will be necessary check every now and then if this has returned to be able to remove it again.
