Automatic photo and image recognition (Experiment from Microsoft)

Those who follow Navigaweb have had the opportunity to try, in recent months, some experiments promoted by Microsoft which is developing some very powerful image recognition technologies, at least in intentions.
The experiments were all quite fun and it went from that to guess which emotions are expressed in a photo, to the one that tries to find out how old a person is.
In this new experiment Microsoft instead the attempt is to automatically recognize what is in a photo, describing it in words .
It may seem trivial, but it should actually be a very complex recognition system that would require advanced artificial intelligence.
To try, connect to the CaptionBot website and upload a new image from your computer.
The tool should process the photo and describe what it sees .
The program works in order to identify shapes and colors in the photo that it compares with similar images to understand what it is.
In the second step, then, he describes in natural language what he thinks is in the uploaded photo, using different words depending on whether he is sure or if he has many doubts that the recognition is correct.
Artificial intelligence works quite well in certain photographs, and is able to describe precisely what it sees.
In other cases, however, it can make a big mistake and really catch even glaring dazzles, seeming that the experiment is far from perfect and, no matter how wrong, this time it is funny at times hilarious.
If in the photos shown by example the experiment seems to work, just upload a photo a little more particular to find descriptions out of reality.
In my test, by uploading a simple photo of me visible above, I was told that I am a man on a mountain, with an unhappy expression.
