Create timelines of events and photos in chronological order with horizontal scrolling

A Timeline or timeline is a graphical way of viewing news, biographies or real stories in order to have a timeline with events arranged in chronological order and easily identifiable.
Timeline drawing is used in historical documentaries but it can also be a fun and creative idea to create an album of photographs dedicated to a person or an event.
There are many services to create timeline video presentations, but three of these beat all the others.
Due, Tiki-Toki and Dipity are new web applications that allow you to create timelines for anything, including online news.
The third, Memolane instead allows you to view your story on social networks .
Since these are really simple and quick to use applications, you can have fun and experiment with this creative approach, perhaps to follow the news events (such as the Libyan War, Nuclear Power Station in Japan) or to follow a blog, a Youtube video channel, a photo page on Flickr, a Twitter account and so on.
1) Tiki-Toki is the strange name of this partially free web application that allows you to create timelines with photos, videos and news with spectacular graphics.
After registration you can create a timeline (only one with free account)
To create more you need to sign up for a paid account.
From the Admin menu you create the line of events including a title, a description, the start and end date and, if you wish, the background images.
After creating the timeline, events are added from the Stories menu.
First put the title, the date and, if you want, the link to another site.
From the Media menu you can add one or more own photos or photos uploaded to Flickr or even Youtube videos.
In the Extras menu you can write a text as long as you want.
If you want to classify events, you will need to add new categories before associating them with specific events.
The end result is a beautiful web page with a sliding timeline via the mouse and a calendar at the bottom.
In fact, with Toki-Toki you create something that is similar to a blog, with posts, photos and videos, arranged chronologically, with an extremely innovative view (you cannot, however, leave comments).
2) Dipity is a site on which it is possible to create timelines of events arranged chronologically (maximum three for a free account).
This time the goal is different because it is a way of viewing any external resource with this special view.
To register for Dipity you can log in using Facebook or create a new account.
After having skipped the request to invite other people to use the site, you can start creating this timeline by selecting one of the proposed news events.
From the Dashboard, through the link at the top right, you can make a new timeline and choose from the countless possibilities, by connecting Dipity to an external service .
You can make the timeline of a site's news via RSS feed (on Other), you can create a timeline of Youtube videos, Flickr photos, your blog, events described in Google News, Twitter or music services such as Last.fm.
You can also make a new sequence of custom events manually, without binding them to other resources.
Unfortunately in Dipity there is a limit of 5, 000 views per month (if it is incorporated into another site) and 50 MB of space for uploading photos.
3) Memolane is the most interesting of the timeline services for normal users (the other two have more professional publishing purposes).
With Memolane it is possible to chronologically display, with the graphic style of the timeline, all the events of Facebook, Twitter or other social networks.
After registration, it is possible to connect Facebook or Twitter accounts and view your wall in this way.
All the history of events in Facebook has been collected since the account was opened.
Memolane also allows you to create stories by collecting content from multiple friends, putting them together and creating a shared story made up of images, videos, status updates, links, audio recordings and so on.
Other alternative services to create timelines of images, news and videos with horizontal scrolling are very simplified Timetoast, with only the possibility of writing text linked to an image and a date.
In TimeRime there are several Italian news stories that are worth watching and you can also post comments.
