The Internet is not just Google, Bing, Yahoo and Facebook, the Internet is an endless ocean of websites that can be found, at times, only through very precise, less generic and more specialized search engines. Google is the number one search engine because it is capable of automatically scanning websites and indexing them, according to their algorithms, in a certain order.
However, they remain outside of Google or otherwise difficult to find non-optimized sites, censored sites, sites in different languages, competing sites and so on.
In this article we make a nice list of the most important sites to search the internet for anything, for example articles, images, blogs, people, videos etc.
Search engine
- Aol (USA) offers search results in combination with editorial content from the AOL site network.
- Yandex, the most used search engine in Russia, similar to Google with images, videos, maps, e-mail and several other services.
- Baidu, the most used search engine in China to find websites, news, maps, images and audio and video files. Baidu is one of the most powerful companies in the world, but its search engine is controlled by the Chinese government.
- Other search engines used in China are also Yam, Youdao and sogou.
- Ecosia, web search engine also in Italian, which uses 80% of its earnings to plant trees.
- MyWebSearch is a Google-based search engine, also in Italian, which allows you to find sites, images, videos, news, commercial products, maps and other things.
- Teoma is an independent search engine with its own index and algorithm, specializing in the search for web pages, images, videos, recipes, news.
- InfoSpace is an independent and alternative search engine for finding web pages, images and videos and news.
- Giga Blast is a site for looking for sites that seems a little rudimentary and ancient, but that provides many parameters to refine searches and find the latest information, in different languages.

- Yahoo Answers, to be mentioned because it is widely used in Italy.
Private search engines
I had already talked about sites to search the internet protecting privacy DuckDuckGo and StartPage .
These are very powerful websites, not based on Google, which do not track the searches made and do not collect data as Google does instead.
To these two I also add Qwant.com, in Italian, which provides for every word searched, normal results, the latest news, and quotes on social networks.
Qwant is an ambitious project funded by the European Union to try to counter Google.
Search for people
Pipl is one of the best sites to find information about people and photos by looking for the name and try to find out the phone number and email.
Another type of sites are those for Finding address and name by phone number, useful when calling someone to find out who he is.
Look for download links for any files
The Filechef site is really to be preferred in any browser because it allows you to search for links to download any type of file on the internet, using complex search keys on Google, without therefore doing anything illegal.
