Power limitation in Windows 10 in battery saver mode

With Windows 10 v1709 (Fall Creators Update) a new battery saving technology called Power Throttling or, in Italian, Power limitation has been added.
This feature is automatic and comes into action on Windows 10 laptops and tablets when they are battery powered, improving their durability.
In fact, it is a detection system integrated in Windows 10 that helps identify the most important activities to keep them running, blocking all the other processes in the background.
To see which applications and processes are subject to power limitation, you need to open the Task Manager (press the CTRL - Shift - Esc keys together), expand more details if not done previously, then go to the Details tab, click the button right mouse button and click on Select columns .
From the list that appears, locate and select the Power limitation item and press OK.

To disable Power Throttling (i.e. power limitation) in Windows 10 you simply need to change the active energy saving plan from Balanced to High Performance .
This can be done quickly by clicking on the battery indicator visible on the taskbar.
Pressing the icon you will see a cursor similar to that of the volume that can be moved to 4 positions, each for a level of energy saving.
you can then choose:
- Battery Saver mode, the mode to be used to make it last as long as possible.
- Improved Battery Mode, it is the one we could always recommend to use, because balanced.
- Better performance is the mode to keep the PC almost at full power, to completely disable the power limitation.
- Maximum performance .
You can simply move the slider to the right to enable the Best Performance power plan to disable the Power Throttling feature and let the processor work hard for all applications.
As for applications and programs, you can make sure that for some of them the power limitation is always disabled.
To do this, go to Settings -> System> Battery and press on the line " Battery use according to the app ".
In this list applications (and programs) are listed for battery use.
By clicking on each of these it is possible to deselect the option to " allow Windows to decide when this app can be run in the background " which, in fact, deactivates for the power limitation for that application.
When you deselect this option, a new box then appears to allow the app to perform background tasks, which you must activate.
Power limitation is always disabled for Windows processes.
Technically, power throttling or Power Throttling is a way in which Windows manages the CPU load in order to make it lower and consume less energy.
In other versions of Windows (Windows 7 and 8.1) the option to decrease CPU efficiency to save energy is also present, but it is a very hidden and unclear option.
In the past I mentioned it in the guide to maximize CPU performance in Windows .
