Recognize things and places from the camera with Google Lens

Traveling or during cultural visits or even for dinner outside or in any other circumstance where there is a reference point that cannot be identified, it is now possible to search for what it is by framing it with the camera thanks to the new special Google Lens application.
Google Lens is not only useful when you go around, but it also works well to know what's in a photo or to identify particular objects, in real time.
The app therefore consists of an intelligent camera that allows you to identify a work of art or even to recognize breeds of dogs and types of plants, mushrooms or even labels and bar codes.
Google Lens, is a special function, born in Google Photos (Android and iPhone), which can now be installed as a separate app on all Android 6 or later smartphones.
Using the Google Lens feature in Google Photos is only possible on some phone models.
On these smartphones, you can open a photo and notice if among the 4 buttons at the bottom there is one with an incomplete dot inside a square, that of Lens.
If there is (if instead there is the i of information go to the second part of this article) then you can touch and then, in the photo, select the point where the object or the writing to be recognized is located.
Once Google Lens has completed scanning the image, if it has correctly identified something, it will be highlighted and a card will appear with the name of what has been found.
If the description comes from Wikipedia instead of Google, there will be a link to read the rest.
You will also find a link to the search results to open the browser or search for images on Google to do the reverse search.
When Google Lens has difficulty identifying a landmark, a point of interest, a monument or a building in the photo, it will give the option to search for the image photographed on Google, even if it will be difficult to find better results.
As mentioned above, Google Lens can be downloaded as an app for Android .
The app works directly and there is no need to take a photograph, you just need to frame something and touch the point with the object to be recognized to get results.
Google Lens can be used to do the following:
- Recognize and memorize written phone numbers
- Recognize dates and addresses
- Find products similar to the one framed, useful for example if you see a piece of furniture you like or a pair of shoes or clothes.
- Search and identify the covers of books, movies, video games and music albums
- Discover names of monuments, paintings, works of art and places of interest.
- Scan barcodes
The app works in tandem with the camera and uses Google's search engine and the company's virtual assistant and artificial intelligence to identify objects in real time .
The app also integrates into Google Photos, where under each open image, the Lens button appears to recognize what's there.
For those who remember it, it can be said that this application is the evolution of the old Google Goggles that we talked about some time ago.
We must also remember that on Android smartphones you can always identify objects in photos and images thanks to the function integrated in the Google assistant that is activated by holding down the Home button.
