Internet offers for rechargeable SIMs on tablets, sticks and modems

To surf the internet from smartphones and mobile phones, tablets, USB sticks or "internet keys" and portable modems, we have created this complete guide, to be used as a summary to discover the most advantageous and best offers, not only in terms of costs and of available traffic, but also from the point of view of reliability and connection speed.
The discussion only revolves around the 4 main suppliers because, although it is possible to purchase rechargeable SIM cards or subscriptions from other companies, they all still maintain their traffic on the infrastructures of the main mobile internet providers: Tre, Wind, Vodafone, Fastweb and TIM .
In addition to these, we must also add Iliad, which entered the Italian market in 2018 with offers so advantageous as to create a real earthquake among the other operators, which had to adapt to avoid a mass escape.

Internet offers for rechargeable SIM cards

In the following chapters we will find out which are the best operators for mobile Internet on which we can focus on tablets, sticks and modems; once you have chosen which operator to bet on, we can choose one of the recommended offers below.

Best operators for mobile Internet

If we do not know which mobile operator to choose for the mobile Internet, we can summarize it as follows:
  1. Vodafone can be considered the most reliable company, with excellent signal coverage throughout the territory, excellent customer service, but all this quality translates into higher prices.
  2. TIM has the same reliability as Vodafone, with practically total coverage throughout the Italian territory and excellent speed, with prices in line with the competition (although tendentially higher).
  3. Wind is one of the history companies with the lowest general prices, however at the expense of Internet speed and with less coverage than Vodafone and TIM. Its network is also exploited by other famous operators and virtual operators such as Tre, Iliad and (soon) also Fastweb.
  4. Tre instead has a convenient offer to have Internet on smartphones, tablets and USB sticks, guarantees very good connection speeds but the coverage often leaves something to be desired, with areas where it does not take or takes little. The merger with Wind has solved most of the problems, but shares the poor speed that grips the other operator (in a nutshell if we take LTE the speed is good, but if we take 3G or 2G we will go to the Wind network many times).
  5. Iliad is currently among the most convenient, because with less than 8 € it allows you to surf without limits with very high data traffic. Iliad uses its antennas wherever possible and offers a fair speed in these scenarios; where he does not take well he relies on roaming in Wind, with all the necessary problems.
  6. Fastweb is one of the telephony operators that has achieved great results in recent years, thanks to the combination of SIMs with offers for fixed Internet (we can pay a single bill for everything). Basically it relies on the TIM network, therefore it shares most of its strengths (even if the speeds are lower). From 2020 it will use the Wind network for LTE connectivity and the new 5G, with results to be verified (but it will probably worsen in coverage and speed as seen also for Tre).
If we want to focus on other minor operators, we remind you that PosteMobile, Ho are also available. Mobile and Kena Mobile.

Internet on SIM for tablets, sticks and modems

After seeing the operators we can focus on, let's see together the offers to get a rechargeable SIM with data traffic included, ideal to be inserted in a tablet compatible with SIM cards, in a USB LTE stick or in an LTE portable modem. In the guide we will show you the offer with the highest amount of data traffic, so you can immediately choose the one that will allow us to navigate without too many thoughts.
  1. TIM : the best offer for this operator is Supergiga 50GB, which offers navigation from tablets, modems or smartphones with 50GB of traffic included at € 13.99 per month .
  2. Vodafone : if we want to bet on this operator, the best offer is Total Giga Digital, which includes 30GB of data traffic from tablets, PCs and unlimited sticks and videos included at € 10 per month .
  3. Wind : with this operator we can subscribe to the Internet offer 60 GIGA, which offers you 60 GB of traffic on any device where we insert the SIM for € 14.99 per month .
  4. Three : the best offer with this operator is Super Internet 50GB, which has 50 GB of traffic included on modems, tablets and sticks for € 8.99 per month .
  5. Iliad : the new operator presents a single offer that includes 50 GB of Internet traffic from any compatible device for € 7.99 per month .
  6. Fastweb : the operator allows to obtain a SIM with the Fastweb Mobile offer, which includes 30GB of data traffic from smartphone, tablet, key or modem for € 9.95 per month .
Analyzing the offers indicated, it immediately catches the eye that the best operator for quality / price ratio is Iliad, which offers 50 GB of traffic for only € 7.99 per month, the lowest price we can currently pay for a mobile Internet line with this traffic value included.
If we are looking for more than 50GB of data traffic, Wind's offer is the best (with its 60 GB), even if the price is decidedly high.
A good compromise is Vodafone, which offers 30 GB of unlimited traffic and videos (from the indicated services) for only € 10 per month; whereas videos are the component that consumes the most traffic, the offer is more than adequate. Always from Vodafone we can view the Infinito offers, which are decidedly more expensive but offer a total flat on the data SIM (even if those with an affordable price come with showy speed limits).
On average, however, the offers of TIM and Fastweb, which boast a good amount of data traffic at prices in any case in line with the competition.
If instead of the Internet only offers we are looking for a SIM with Internet and voice, it is also worth reading our article on all-inclusive cheap mobile telephone plans (voice and Internet) .

Conclusions

There is no shortage of offers to have a data SIM with the Internet included, we will only have to choose which one to bet based on the price, the amount of data or the speed we are looking for on our tablet, on the USB stick or on the LTE modem.
If we don't know which LTE modem to choose, we can look for valid models in our guide on the Best 4G LTE portable routers, even for travel .
