If for some particular reason of privacy, to make jokes or to do stalking (but on this we will see that it is better to be very careful) you want to hide your cell phone or landline number in calls or SMS messages, you can do it thanks to an option offered by the mobile phone providers themselves. The option to call or send messages with a private number from a mobile phone (even if anonymity is not absolute) can be made free of charge with Wind, Tim, Vodafone and Tre.
To call and hide your number so that the person who receives the call does not appear, just type the code # 31 # on the keypad of the mobile phone.
For example, therefore, to call a friend whose number is 328111111 from a mobile phone, you must write on your smartphone # 31 # 328111111 .
Who receives the call will not see our number and will see the written private number or unknown number .
If you want to hide the number by telephoning from a landline telephone, instead, you have to prefix the number of the person calling the code * 67 # .
I want to clarify that this way of calling is not anonymous at all.
In case you want to use the hidden number option to make bad jokes or, worse, to stalk and harass a person with continuous silent calls, both the telephone companies and, above all, the police authorities can easily trace the identity of the caller.
Furthermore, as already written in the past, it is possible for everyone to find out the number of those who call anonymously thanks to a free service that is very easy to use and configure.
If you have an Android phone, the whole procedure for making calls by hiding the number can be simplified a lot by opening the numeric keypad, pressing the key of the three dots at the top right, going to Settings -> Call settings -> Other Settings, tap on ID Caller and select the option to hide the number.
The mobile phone companies Tre, Tim, Wind and Vodafone also allow you to send SMS messages with the sender's hidden number .
Depending on the SIM card used, proceed as follows:
- With Vodafone you must send the SMS to the number 4895894 written in this way: S (make a space) number of the recipient (make a space) message .
The cost is 12.50 cents.
- With TIM you can send an anonymous SMS in the same way as Vodafone.
- With Wind the anonymous SMS is written like this: * k (make a space) k # s (make a space) message and the recipient will also be able to reply to us, even if they do not know who they are from.
If, on the other hand, no reply is requested, the message must be written in another way: * k (make a space) s (make a space) text .
- Finally, with Tre, anonymous SMS messages must be sent to the number 48383 written in this way: mobile number (space) text message.
The cost is 50 cents.
