Clear Google history, searches and open sites

Google records everything we seek and do on its YouTube, Google Maps, Android etc. applications. This automatic function of each Google service allows users to be able to review videos they have already seen without looking for them twice (see also how to clear the Youtube history ), to be able to retrieve searches made in the past (including voice searches made from the phone ) and return to the places you've already been to (see also how to clear or turn off history of places in Google Maps )
As explained in these articles, it is always possible to disable the history of the Google app and also to delete the search data if you want to eliminate traces of your activities. While, however, before it was necessary to go through a page dedicated to Google's data privacy, very hidden and nowhere to be found if its existence was not known, it is now possible to examine and delete the history of recent searches directly from the browser of the PC or smartphone .

How to delete Google history and search data

First of all, it is important to know that Google history is activated only when you are connected with the Google account, which can be created and used on all Google services, namely: Gmail, Android smartphone or tablet, Google Play Store, YouTube, Google Maps and many other services. Only in this case, when we see our name at the top right on the Google.it home page, the history is recorded and kept over time . No history is recorded by Google if you use the incognito mode of the browser.

Clear Google history from PC

To view, manage and delete this Google history or to deactivate it, we will simply have to open a web browser on our computer and open the Your data in search page.

To access this page, you can do any search on Google and then, in the menu at the top, press on Settings and then on Your data in search .
You can then scroll down the page to find the section dedicated to Your search activity, with two buttons below: Delete Last Hour or Delete all the search activity .
From this page, by pressing the Google Activities button, we can also reach the Google Activities page, where we can discover all data saved by Google applications and services.

Here, on the left side, you can find the Delete Activities for section, where you can choose which history to delete (for example only that of YouTube or Google Maps) and for what time interval.
You can also delete items from Google history directly from the list, by selecting them one by one or by pressing on the square next to the word Today .
If you use the calendar button at the top, we can select a specific day or time period and then clear the history of that day completely.

Clear Google history from smartphone or tablet

We can also carry out the same operations to clear Google history from an Android smartphone or iPhone, by opening the Google app (available for Android and iPhone / iPad), pressing the lower right corner on the Other menu and pressing the item Your data in Research .

The window is completely identical to the Web page seen before and allows you to delete the history of the last hour or all the search history by pressing the two buttons Delete last hour or Delete all the activity in the Search (available by scrolling on the screen).
To access instead all the activities of the various Google services, just press on Other, then press on the account name at the top, press on Manage your Google account and finally go to the Data and personalization tab.

Clear Chrome history

What many can ignore is that if you use the Chrome browser on any computer or on Android and iPhone smartphones, not only the searches are recorded in the history, but also all the sites visited by these devices. The web and app Activities page, in fact, does not only include the searches made, but also the sites visited with Chrome on each device that uses the same Google account, even those open on Android smartphones and tablets.
In order to clear the Chrome history stored online, just open the Task Manager page for the History of Google Chrome.

Using the Delete all button on the left side we can quickly delete all the data that Google Chrome has communicated to our Google account.
Regardless of the presence or absence of the Google Chrome account, it keeps, like any browser, the history data of the sites visited keeping them in the memory of the computer or mobile phone.
To clear the history of the sites visited with Chrome, both on PC and on Chrome for smartphones and tablets, we recommend you read our guide on how to clear history on Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge and IE .

Conclusions

In a world that stores and saves everything we do online (in many cases to resell our digital profile and our habits to the best bidder), Google offers valid tools to access all the data collection regarding the searches carried out on the engine search (from the Web or from an app, from a smartphone, from a tablet or from a PC) allowing us to delete everything with a few clicks of the mouse or with a few taps on the screen of our mobile device.
We have already talked about this also in the past with at least two articles on How to See the search history on Google and on the page that collects all the data recorded by the Google apps .
Always on the subject, we advise you to read our article on how to delete sites visited on mobile and computer, so as to know in detail other procedures to delete data on the sites visited.
If, on the other hand, we particularly care about our privacy and want to surf anonymously, we advise you to read immediately our articles on how to delete data and site history when closing Chrome and Firefox and how to surf anonymously on the Internet with proxy, vpn and fake IP address .
