Those who know how to use the Genius function of iTunes "> MusicBee can be downloaded for free as a PC program and as an app for Windows 10, and works roughly like iTunes to listen to music on the computer with a lot of other functions. Among its best features are:
- The ability to extract the information on the tracks in the music library from the internet and automatically fill in the recognition tags relating to the name of the song, the album, the artist and the album cover.
- Allows you to immediately read the lyrics of each song listened to.
- Allows you to create custom Playlists.
- Thanks to an advanced equalizer you can normalize the volume of a series of songs and you can activate the Volume Enhancer to hear louder music.
- Duplicate and duplicate file manager, removal of tracks that no longer exist and converter of audio file formats (from mp3 to Flac or from Wav to mp3 and so on) with other important MusicBee Tools .
- For each song you can see, without interrupting listening, the Wikipedia page relating to the artist and the page with Youtube videos .
The very light interface is divided into sections and shows everything you need.
There is the column to browse the music, the mp3 files on the computer, the playlists and the files contained in any mp3 players or USB sticks connected to the computer.
There is the list of songs in the center, the playlist on the right, the player controls at the bottom and information taken from the internet about the artist and the song at the bottom right.
The best functions, however, are precisely those mentioned above concerning iTunes, that is the AutoDJ function and the possibility of integrating your playlist with tracks available freely on the Last.FM website .
With this feature it is possible to listen in mixed sequence, both the songs on the computer and those streamed from the music site.
To activate what is called " scrobbling " from Lastfm.it you must have an account registered on this website and press the button at the bottom right, the one next to the figure of an equalizer.
Once you log in to Last.fm from MusicBee, you can go to the left side and click on Auto DJ .
Auto DJ is a way to automatically and quickly generate playlists of similar songs in your library, i.e. on your computer.
This function can be enriched by including music that is not present in the computer.
In the configuration page, you need to put the flag where " also stream tracks from last.fm ... " is written and then, pressing on +, you can choose how to manage scrobbling or the suggestion of music similar to those that have been selected for reproduction.
The search for similar music from the internet can be done by tag (music genre) which is perhaps the most convenient solution.
In Last.fm not all the songs are free to listen so it is possible that some very popular songs never appear in the online search.
By pressing the button at the top preview, you can see which tracks are recommended by MusicBee with a function identical to that of the iTunes Genius.
Pressing Start DJ instead starts the playback of the tracks.
Particularly not insignificant is that, by right clicking on one of the songs suggested by Last.fm, you can download the music in the form of mp3 files and save it on your PC to hear it even offline or to transfer it to your iPod.
