Having an Android smartphone means having a phone that can do things on its own and change its settings automatically based on certain established events. For example, it may be that when you are at home, you want to activate the wifi connection, that you activate Airplane mode at night, that when you travel, GPS and Wifi are deactivated to save battery.
You can therefore also automate Android sound profiles and control the volume intelligently, according to the times.
In this article we see some free applications to automatically change the Android settings based on where you are or at the times.
In addition to the advantage of having the phone ready to do what it takes, these automation applications are particularly useful in saving battery when the phone is not in use.
1) The most complex and most complete application to automate Android is called Tasker which, however, is paid.
Its free alternative is MacroDroid is one of the best free apps to automate Android, excellent especially for activating or deactivating network connections based on the name of the network or provider and for setting up the automatic connection based on geolocation.
Easy to use, Macrodroid has a guided rule creation system which shouldn't create any difficulty in setting up.
2) IFTTT For Android it automates the mobile phone based on online account events and particular combinations (described in another article).
3) Very simple to use are time based applications like Phone Schedule which is the most complete and easiest to use.
Phone Schedule allows you to perform the following actions in a scheduled manner, at a certain time:
- Activate the On / Off data connection;
- Change brightness according to the time of day;
- Launch a specific app, such as music for the alarm.
- Activate silent mode, vibration mode, volume level (ringtone, media, alarm)
- Enable or disable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
- Flight mode
- Change ringtone and notification tone,
- Set the silent ringtone
- Create reminders
For example, with Phone Schedule you can turn off the ringer or put Airplane mode at night to wake up the phone in the morning or turn on Wifi when you return home and turn it off when you are in the office. The application, although at the beginning it may be unclear, is very simple to use precisely because each action can be programmed with the times so there are no particular joints to create conditions and effects as you would instead with Tasker.
4) AutomateIt is a very valid and easy-to-use Android application to create automation rules in order to activate or deactivate various functions based on the time, place, battery charge or other conditions. Many rules are already preset and only to be activated.
5) To change the volume of sounds and ringtone on Android automatically there are some apps that allow you to manage different sound profiles based on various conditions.
You can then schedule the use of one audio profile rather than another based on the time of day, raising or lowering the ringtone and notification tones.

Each rule can be configured through a wizard, therefore making the creation of automatic actions very simple. For example, if the condition is a certain time of day, the action may be to lower the brightness of the screen. Obviously you can create flows and automate any activity that comes to mind, with a guided procedure.
11) CAF to create an app folder that automatically changes according to the time, place or other conditions.
In general it is possible to use one or more applications of this type in a combined way and configure automatic cross-actions of each type.
