A little interest has been lost in reporting new browser versions such as Firefox and Chrome that add almost nothing compared to the previous one and make news only for the number that continues to grow rather than for actual changes or improvements. Chrome 25 however has an important novelty that makes it a safer browser : it is not possible for an external program to install extensions on Chrome in a silent way.
This puts an end to those problems caused by programs such as Ask bars, FunMoods, Babylon Incredistart MyStart and so on that change their home page and search engine by installing themselves as extensions and plugins that slow down the navigation by showing a lot of advertising.
Chrome 25 then outperforms Firefox in terms of security and blocks the automatic installation of both browser extensions and plugins from external programs .
When a program tries to install an extension, a warning will appear on Chrome and the user can decide whether to enable it or to remove it.
In addition, all extensions previously installed by external programs and software are automatically disabled and on Chrome you will see a notification to allow the rapid reactivation of these.
From now on, developers of applications and programs on Windows will be forced to ask users for permission to integrate their programs on Chrome.
The other new feature in Chrome 25 is the inclusion of support for the Web Speech API which means for developers the ability to create web applications with speech recognition .
There are not many details about this feature other than a demo that you can try speaking by voice with the microphone .
Practically it is possible to write on the computer using the voice, even speaking in Italian (as one would do with the expensive Dragon program).
A direct consequence of this feature, voice search on Google in Italian has been introduced with Chrome 27 .
If this novelty can be used in word processing applications such as Google Docs, then it will become really useful to be able to write by speaking, dictating the text to the computer.
This feature is even more useful from Chrome on iPhone and on Android smartphone or tablet to dictate text and find it immediately written.
I remember that with Chrome, for some time now, it has been possible to use the voice assistant to read written text with an Italian voice.
The TalkTyper site also allows you to dictate what to write on your computer .
