When using a camera that is not too professional or if you are taking photos with your smartphone, it may happen that the shot is blurred or moved, especially with little amount of light or for a sudden movement of the hand. Although it can be redone, it is not said that one will immediately notice the defect; in this case we will have to act subsequently using one of the many programs, Web services and apps dedicated to photo editing and correction of this defect. In this guide we will show you how to use free programs, apps and services to focus blurred photos or blurry images. We will thus be able to correct any errors before publishing the photo on social networks or in chat, sure that we have eliminated that ugly "blur" effect, acting either directly from the smartphone, or by using a free program or a website from a PC.
Whatever the program or app chosen to remove the blur or blurry effect, remember that these software cannot do too many "miracles", therefore they must be taken into consideration only for light or at most medium blurs; if the image is all blurred or blurred, there is very little we can do without completely ruining the shot. We load the moved photo into the program (it's okay to simply drag the image inside the interface), then open the item in the Filters menu -> Improvement -> Unsharp mask .
In the small window that will open we can set the intensity and the diffusion of the effect, which will improve the blurred images by adding artificial contrast on the edges and edges. To adjust the effect, move the sliders to Standard Deviation and Scale, activate the double view by setting the check mark to Split view and observe the improvements. Once the desired result is achieved, we click to confirm the application of the effect and save the image by going to File -> Export as .
If we want to use the old GIMP plugin to apply the unsharp mask, let's go to Filters -> Improvement -> Unsharp Mask (traditional) . This plugin is slightly more difficult to use, since it integrates three items to adjust ( Radius, Amount and Threshold ).
SmartDeblur
Another free program that we can use to focus blurred images is SmartDeblur, available for free for Windows.
Compared to GIMP this program is designed exclusively to remove the fuzzy effect from photos, through advanced algorithms and powerful filters that will be able to remove the effect from practically all photos (although in some cases the result is a photo too artificial to be able to be acceptable).
Using this program is very simple: click on the Open button at the bottom left and select the blurred photo from those on the computer; as soon as the photo appears from the side, make sure to use Auto-detect Blur in the Defect type field, slightly move the two cursors Blur Size and Smoothless and, after reaching an acceptable result, click on the bottom Save to save a copy of the photo "correct."
Definitely more practical and simple to use than GIMP, even if the results are roughly similar (as mentioned we cannot work miracles).
Internet services
If we don't want to download anything to our PC or we can't (maybe because we use a company computer), we can focus blurred photos and blurred images using some Web services designed for this photo editing operation.Enhance.Pho.to

Another website we can use to focus blurred photos for free is Lunapic.
To remove the blur from photos, we upload the image by clicking on the Upload button, then go to the Adjust menu and then to Adjust Focus . Now all we have to do is move the cursor at the top, bringing it towards the Sharper voice; while moving the photo will be reloaded with the desired effect. When satisfied with the result, click on Apply and then on the small Save button present just below the image.
