In the eternal diatribe to find out which of the Chrome and Firefox browsers is better, one of the key factors remains memory consumption which, when there are many extensions installed and it is used to open many tabs at the same time, becomes crucial. Both browsers, also because of their enormous capacities, slow down browsing a lot and almost go to block the computer if there are too many sites and too many tabs open.
Chrome, which is faster than Firefox, instead shows worse performance than the Mozilla browser if you look at the fact that Chrome occupies almost entirely the computer's RAM memory and each card occupies an increasing amount of memory, especially in the case of web applications heavier.
To solve Chrome's memory consumption problems during a browsing session, there are basically two things you can do:
1) Use the browser's internal task manager to see which tabs are weighing more on computer performance;
2) Free up the RAM by closing the tabs when the consumption becomes excessive, and then reopening them if needed.

For the first way, that of the task manager, just press the combination of Shift-Esc keys on the PC keyboard to open the task manager and see if there are extensions or tabs that are taking up more memory.
Close these tabs to free up memory.
A more practical and immediate solution is instead to free the RAM with a click .
To do this we can use the OneTab extension that can be installed for free for Chrome and also for Firefox .
OneTab is a simple button on the extension bar that closes all open tabs.
The extension therefore manages to free up memory instantly and almost completely because it ends all open tabs in one fell swoop.
Obviously, it would not be useful if all the sites that were open and that are closed with OneTab were not stored in a list thus allowing the user to resume work and reopen the cards they need.
OneTab in fact opens a single tab with the list of sites that have been closed by pressing the extension button.
From this special tab you can restore all the tabs or reopen the different sites in the list one by one, keeping the list saved for later reuse.
The list can also be exported or imported via the link at the top right of the page or you can create a web page with the list of websites so that you can share it with other people or to import this list on a smartphone (by scanning the QR code).
In practice, every time you work with many tabs on Chrome, if the computer starts to slow down and the browser's memory usage goes up too much until it consumes almost all of it, you can free the RAM in a click by clicking on the button of OneTab, without losing anything.
In another article, we had also seen another solution to meet the problem of excessive RAM consumption on Chrome when there are too many tabs open.
Inactive cards can be suspended on Chrome to save memory after a certain period of time and reload them when it is needed again.
